Hi fellow piwats,
Is there some kind of atlas or database showing ingame pictures of all the different turret guns to be fitted on a ship? I can recognise some turret guns by zooming on the enemy vessel, but not quite all of them. It might come in handy prior to battle so you know what to expect in terms of dps and range.
Thx alot for any replies.

For lasers, if it has a bulge at the end of a large gun barrel its a tachyon. -------------

IMHO, I think it's more important to ascertain the ship type so you know what innate bonuses your opponent will be sporting first. Then I'd be thinking "What would I fit on that?" Then move on to turrets if you have the time.
This is just my opinion however.
For example, I wouldn't bother selecting "look at" if I was taking on a Maelstrom as I'd be expecting arties and a shield boosting setup most of the time. Dangerous I know, but IMHO you need to be fast in your decision making. Selecting "look at" is time consuming, when I want to really be thinking about my module select and deselect order.
Sorry if I've missed the point. Lavraen |

Domi's tend to use 5 heavy drones for damage if they have drones, drone interfacing and heavy drone operation all to 5.

Another thing to note on Amarr ships using lasers.
I recently outfitted my ship with Tech II turrets, and I noticed this...
Regular named/T1 turrets have a blue glow on the turret.
The Tech II turrets have a white glow. -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |

The differences are slight and to an untrained eye you won't be able to tell the difference between close and long range weapons.
Tech 1 to tech 2 is a bit more easy to distinguish. I will say after you've played the game for a while , it will only take a glance to tell the exact weapons on the ship. It just takes practice and experience.
As far as there being a database for them , it sounds like a good idea to get setup , ... I know id love people who are trying to figure it out looking at my ship while they get wtfbbq'd \o/

Same, no time to spend gawping at the ship model... just start shooting and hope your shooting blows him up before you.
It's all rock paper scissors once in fight.. largely luck of wether the guy your fighting knows how to pick the right ship, fit it right and fly it right.
ps: lol at dominix info, I'd have to remember that

the biggest thing to worry about is t2 versus t1; t2 tend to be shinier and have lasers and crazy **** sticking off of them, whereas t1 tend to be brown and rusty and not so hot looking.

I remember (probably years ago) some guy had a guide for this exact question with screenshots of all the different types of turret
Don't ask me who or where it is/was though

ooo! Wait!
I got a better answer!
An EVE answer!
"If it's my ship, they're blasters, and when you get around to zooming back out, you'll notice they are 2000 metres from you, and firing. And then you will be dead. And then they will fire at your pod. And then they will fire at CONCORD. And win. I've never lost a ship btw."
