Seriously, I think Eve downloads and caches a lot of more data than it did before. Try setting you cache to off.

Edited by: Gunner on 18/12/2007 14:01:04 I mean in the Eve client itself, in the esc menu go to Display & Graphics and you see a dropdown menu for cache size. Select off.

Hi,
Can you confirm that you're not just running Vista and watching the variable pagefile allocation work its magic? Remember that adding more RAM will suck 1.5X it's capacity in HD pagefiles. So, add a new 1g stick=losing 1.5g on your HD.
Beyond that, Vista always boots with a different pagefile configuration for me. It's supposed to be smart/dynamic, meaning that it "learns" what your typical application usage requires and reorganizes memory accordingly. Dunno about that, but I do see a huge variability in how much C: drive space I have on any given boot.
If EVE cache is expanding at ungodly rates for people, however, I'd sure like to know about it.

Edited by: CCP Lingorm on 18/12/2007 14:32:54 The Cache setting is used by the running client to limit the amount of RAM Memory it uses to store object models, so changing that setting will not affect the space used by the client on the hard drive.
Check the following.
C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE and remove any .lbw (these are error log files that our client can create. It is safe to delete them. do not change stuff in any lower directories) C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\EVE\ (this stores chat logs and images and such, you could move old chat logs to another drive or delete them)

So you are saying the cache setting just allocates more system memory to load object models, that are stored on your harddrive already? Can you be more specific and tell me what memory sizes belong to the different settings?
Thanks for your reply.

Edited by: Vergil 577 on 19/12/2007 12:33:35 If you run EVE on your second hard disc you could use "/end /LUA:OFF" in your shortcut, assuming you have second one. -------- MAIDS. Don't know why I join a corp with such an obscure name. |
