So what patch is this coming out in i cant wait for this and what are the requirments anyone know? And if they do make them they should do diffrent levels of cloak like level 1 you are only cloaked from sensors at 30km away level 2 24km level 3 15kms level 4 8kms level 5 0kms. or make a skill for the amount of power it takes to cloak. Anyone know when its coming? You have the power to live and learn. Think about it. |

I personaly never tested them. But as I remember my friend told me that they will do no good.
Take all your cap out. Take all your shield off. You speed drops by 90% and it takes a high slot.
As I see this is that the only ship that could use this in compat it would be a Raven wiht 6 launchers and armor tanked. It allso would need all it's med slots for somthing that doesn't use cap.

The Cloaking device requires Cloaking skill (obviously), and Electronics lvl5. If might need some other stuff, I can't remember. It does indeed completely shut down your speed, your cap and your shields, to the tune of 90+%. However, the cloaking skill will increase your cloaked cap by 10% per level, so lvl5 would allow you to still have 50% cap, even when cloaked.
I seam to remember somewhere that there is a skill that will increase your speed whilst cloaked as well, but I can't seam to find it on eve-db atm.
The Cloaking device isn't meant to be a very practical module for most things I don't think. It completly strips your ship of all its use other than scouting. The only ship I'd really think to use one on (unless some evil cloaked fleet set up could be made ) would be a recon frigate. Recon frigs should be able to fit a cloaking device, and they get a 90% reduction in CPU requirements for it.
Check out eve-db for all the details, its where I got them all from.

Yep the cloaking skill used to increase your cloaked speed by 10% per level.

its excelent if you want to use it to hide with a few battleships hunting you
its excelent to lay a trap for fleets

There is this skill that helps with cloaked speed.
Name Hypereuclidean Navigation Group Skill: Electronics Race Description Skill at navigating while cloaked. 20% per level bonus to cloaked velocity
Cloaking skill now gives 10% bonus to cloaked cap per level.
Prototype cloaking device I gives 99% speed penalty and 95% shield and cap penalty. Impoved cloaking device II gives 90% speed penalty and 95% shield and cap penalty. Covert ops cloak II only has 50% nerf to cap and shield and a 50% bonus to speed. Only drawback is that it needs 1200cpu to run it. But not to worry, the Covert Ops frigates have a special skill, 90% less cpu need for cloaking devices. These covert ops frigates are going to be damned good scout ships if these figures stay the same.

It kills your cap, it kills you shields and they do not regen while cloaked. Not a great deal of scope for it imo.

Okay where are you guys playing this? is there a place? is it the test server? see cloaking is well worth it if you have trained on all the skills what are the attrabuts for these skills anyone know? You have the power to live and learn. Think about it. |

Cloaking should be used when you need to hide like in recon. I donŠt think we will see someone fit a cloaking device to a BS but fit the covert ops cloaking device to a frig it can be pretty damn powerful. Not all fights are determined by the size of your guns __________ Capacitor research |

Having been scouting for the CA in my interceptor over the last few days, a cloaking device and/or advance sensors that let you find and warp to safe spots would be HUGELY useful.
The advance sensors, for obvious reasons, safe spots are a pain. It took me and another guy over an hour to track two safe spots down last night, which is a rediculas length of time considering we knew exactly where the enemy were, it just took a long time to get a bookmark close enough to the safe spot to then be able to come in to the exact position on normal engines (20km/s is very useful, 115km/s even more so :).
The cloaking device, because even in an interceptor going incredibly fast you die awful fast if you sit on the gate giving eyes on intel of enemy fleet movements. A cloaking device would help in this no end, you cant be shot if they cant see you.
Its not gonna make a huge difference to the actual bare knuckle part of fighting, but it'll make some of the finer points of fleet combat a lot easier, and a lot better.
just my two cents,

Yes a cloaking device and one of those recon ships with a long range scanner is going to own, although given that I have seen no one specifically discussing the latter, it may be a ways off.

It would still be awfully scary to see an armor tanked, autocannon fitted Tempest decloak 10 km off your stern! That is, if there is some other way to reduce the CPU requirement of those things...
Peace through love, understanding and superior firepower. Real men structure tank! |
