Frankly I do not think you do not grasp the impact of that statement. The conflict between hetero and homo is simply a mask for the conflict occuring today, in our virtual world.
Never before has a virtual world seen such conflict akin to a real world topic, and frankly never has such a conflict been so massively played out by so many people.
For one side tries to oppress the other, and the backlash is unbelievable and fabulous. Nay, this is not something to joke about when we live it every day, breathe it every day, and the experience will be there for the rest of our lives.

MC and co seem to wanna stay semi neutral by declaring a standing reset with "This is where we stand!" stance using the Merc banner to wash off all past aggressions.
It seems some alliances wanna turn the page, MC being one of em. Whether RSF decides to forgive and forget MC's past handy work thats another post in itself. The fact remains, this game is about the thrill of the fight. It makes strategic sense for both BoB and RSF to take on MC.
Your thought on the strategyaspect are much appreciated. Thx
I'm afraid you didn't do a good job in putting yourself into the shoes of the RSF. If you take a look at the map, you can see that there are other paths other than Period Basis that give access to Delve. Namely Querious and Fix. One of these regions has someone allied with Bob, and the other someone who has just declared they want nothing to do with Bob.
Since the one region wants to remain neutral, it would be safe to assume that passage won't be granted to either side through it, giving a buffer there. Thus going through a Pet region and cleansing them off the map will further the goals of the RSF while the other route bogs down the advance to the final destination.

Thx Ocular. I also posted that the main assumption in such a scenario is that:
- The driving force in eve is PVP, and the desire to destroy a "challenging" opponent
I am not taking into account any love/hate relationship which it seems eve has plenty of. This is about taking on the more challenging opponent for maximum eve-play satisfaction. Not about making more space of the same or diff color.
I also understand that game mechanics made such that all super capital construction is 0.0 based and hence for any alliance to have a military edge they ought to have a solid base for war supply. A threat to MC home is a threat to their own capcity to operate as a military powerhouse in eve.
Thx keep em coming :) |

You have opened my eyes, and I see the folly in my decision to make light the complicated and underlying tensions of this conflict. I find your points most intriguing, but as has been said that will have to be a discussion for another thread.

personally if supercaps were more limited in their construction and more geared towards extreme support roles they could be better viewed for 0.0 combat and pvp, which would make the fight for 0.0 space even more desirable for secure areas to build supercaps _____

Ah well, you see the main thing is that POS warfare is not the most exciting of PvP elements in the game. To maximize PvP fun against a worthy opponent, you would not want to be shooting a POS for a few hours. While that occasionally leads to a good fight, more often than non you wind up asleep at your chair.
Instead, you would have a NBSI and have the other party as neutral. That way whenever you run into each other in skirmishes along your borders, you can have fun ship to ship combat. But there would be no personal hurt feelings because both sides had agreed to this open warfare/cold war style of play.

Please don't hijack this thread :)
To put things in more perspective let me lay down possible scenarios, from MCs point of view:
Parties involved: MC+co / BoB / RSF ... not taking into account the rest.
Scenario (1): - RSF decides to take the fight to BoB without going through MC space...fight it out! who knows what would happen. As Far as MC is concerned they can sit it out in Period Basis, holding on to the tale that: they want to defend a home and thats all ... or ... They can turn around with the claim that "They have a contract against RSF and client prefered to keep anonymous". Right here, MC is wearing two masks one of the sovereign alliance and the other of a mercenary alliance, you can't be both.
Outcome of Scenario (1): RSF or BoB are destroyed/weakened. MC can choose to take which ever stand it chooses depending on what banner flies that day (merc or sovereign alliance). They have gained that position because the other parties chose to engage each other. Which is what everyone expects.
Scenario (2): - RSF or BoB decide to take on MC alone. Losses are high and frontlines weakened. Which would benefit one party! BoB or RSF, but no one would like to give that advantage to their enemy.
Outcome: RSF or BoB are winners due to one or the other's making.
Scenario (3): - RSF and BoB decide to take on MC albeit in a shaddy aggreement openning two fronts in the war for MC.
Outcome: Period basis is clear. Both are back to the same situation they had at the beginning, they still in the same stance and now can fight the war they want without the presence of a UNKNOWN entity next door.
I also wanna add: that MC can chose to allow entry through their space to BoB. That would be a direct aggression against em and will kill the "MERC" image. If the image is dead...MC as a merc alliance is dead.
Get rid of the unknown! keep the known parties! that provides focus in a war. At the moment MC being Merc is an UNKNOWN, since they can take a contract against anyone anytime. Unless they set standing, be it positive or negative they still remain an UNKNOWN. too close for comfort.
Thx |

Hmm so from what you say, I don't think you're involved in the fighting so much. The fact is that we can't go through MC space to get to bob. Cap ships simply can't jump the distance between period basis and paragon soul. Since BoB will be facing POS war on two fronts they're screwed. Also, I can't remember the last time we were weakened by losing a fight.

Again you resort to dragging this topic down to your level, and again I must say nay. For this topic is above your lofty standards of posting, and all who are in it are above you.
I will now dismiss your posts like so much garbage, and continue on with the topic at hand.
My stance on hetero and homo was simply an observation to real world analogies being used with the parrallel in eve. Who better to discuss this topic than people embroiled with the conflict on a day to day basis.

Since this thread is visited by many RSF, and it seems someone want this topic to stay afloat: Let me ask this to the RSF community:
- Will you be willing to bite the lip and play in the same direction as BoB and rid the scene of an Unknown opponent that is MC? You cannot sit and fight a battle with another army sitting in the distance while not knowing what there next move is.
Would RSF look the other way to strategically remove an opponent that plays two face?
Will the BoB leadership do the same?
Thx Thx |
