Virgin / NTL is down so rarely it is just BOUND to make the news tbh. If some BT ADSL reseller goes down... nobody really notices, or cares, that 58 Ex-AOL customers aren't online tonight...

It was more than just a DHCP type problem. My Modem lost sync with their network, as if there was no signal to lock on to. Service wasn't restored for me until about 5.30am according to my modem log.

A Virgin Media outage is not exactly Eve related.
Moved to OOP.

That depends if you were on NTL at the time that Eve went down, knob.

Yes and No
AOL no longer has a customer base in the UK as it was acquired by Carphone Warehouse (ISP: Talktalk) who provide a similar service for cheaper, but without any of the benefits AOL ever had (which is hard to believe in itself)
It's cheapy broadband at it's best really: slow, unreliable and employers of technicians that seemingly haven't the slightest clue as to what they're doing (they managed to break my phone line, giving me someone else's phone number 3! times before finally fixing it a week later) -----

Yeah, they just limit us to 1KB/s instead. It's not technically down, but it's out for the count.
Virgin Media is disgraceful in terms of service (both customer and internet). I can't wait to switch away from them. I've spent תתת's on their phonelines being bull****ted this way and that by their trained monkeys. I even try to avoid using their trains nowadays.

I've never had a problem with them for the past 5 years ^^

I'm currently on a relative's Virgin connection in NW England and was with them, by default, in the Midlands when they absorbed NTL/Diamond Cable as was.
The connection speeds at the moment are laughable here, and have been for weeks. I cannot maintain a connection to EVE (or anything else for that matter), so I daren't venture out into 0 as being effectively afk in unsafe space isn't a good idea.
Virgin are a pile of steaming doggy doo and everyone I know who has signed up with them has experienced regular problems, particularly with customer support which has been outsourced to India.
I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised. After all; you can hardly expect a company called Virgin to go all the way now can you?

When my Virgin broadband connection is working, it's fast and reliable. But in the handful of months since I switched to them from Zen ADSL, I've had 4-5 outtages, ranging from an hour to a day and a half. Interestingly this bit outtage didn't seem to affect me, or if it did I didn't notice. Ping times and latency with Virgin are always very good, downloading things is fast, I just wish they had the reliability. With Zen I don't think I ever had a single fault in over 2+ years. I only switched because I found Zen were no longer competitive in their broadband offerings, compared to...well most other ISPs :( -------------

Thats exactly what we had with them, when it worked, it was brilliant... but it could go out for a day or a few hours without warning, and when you rang them they would just say it was a problem with your area.. and they were fixing it..
Now im with BT, its not fast, it doesnt always work, bthomehub sucks balls and.. but it never goes out for more than 2 minutes...
what a choice. --------------------------------------------
