As im getting my feet wet in lowsec pvp i am noticing alot of the more experienced players just flat out kill the sentry guns at a gate or station and then wreak havoc. My question is for a newer player in a small group, what would be required for us to be able to destroy one or two sentry guns?

The hand of god? Well its simple you can't. Your eyes deceived you. You can destroy the billboard though. It'll respawn at some point.

hmmm so how was the same cat 2 nights in a row standing outside my station opening up on anyone/everyone?

Billboards are fairly easy to kill. Sentry guns have 100% resistances.
Sentry guns used to be killable, but not anymore. You could be in 0.0 space where there are no sentry guns...?

im in a 0.4 and this guy is in a heavy assault ship, and knee deep in wreckages standing 3km from the station.

Heavy Assault Ships can tank sentry fire without too much difficulty. That's probably the case. What 0.4 system is this anyway? >:)

undock in a hauler get him agressed, and then undock in a bc or something and fry him up

Depends on the HAC but most if set up for tanking can tank sentry fire forever
Sentry guns used to be killable but then people like m0o exploited this and the devs had to change it

what you need is a command ship a lot better than a hac for shooting stuff outside station.
but you all ready no that dont you Slurricane
