Well this is the situation: I am working on a L1 R&D agent with an effective quality of 35 and who is giving out 33.75rps/day! (that's with the Electronic Engineering at 4 -the skill i'm researching in) I got the Research Project Management today. I researched it to level 1 and i went off looking for a better agent. I found a level 3 one who accepted me with an Effective Quality of 3! using Electromagnetic Physics at level 3, using this agent he is giving me 37.3rps/day. Now ... I go looking for a better Level 2 agent. I found a good agent, Level 2, effective quality 35. Using the same skill,Electromagnetic Physics at level 3 I was getting 21.6rps/day. Now here comes the problem....I am getting a lot better on a L1 agent than a L2 agent with only the difference being 1 level in a skill ? There has to be something wrong here. I know there are ppl out there having more than 170rps/day with level 3 agents and more than 120 with L2...

forget the actual level of the agent themselves.... doesnt really enter into the equation (see later).
Only important issues are:
The SKILL LEVEL of the agent in the skill you want to research.
The EQ of the agent with which you want to research.
NB: SOME agents have lower skill levesl than thelevel of the agent themselves (ie a level 3 agent with only a skill level of 2 in a skill). What there shouldnt ever be is an agent whos skill level is higher than their own level (e.g. a level 2 agetn with a skill level of 3). However there are some of these about if you look carefully and that cans kew the info.
The kwy point though is only to concern yourself with the skill level of the agnet and the EQ. Ideally you want ana gent with Level 3 in the skill you want to research and an EQ of around 30 or higher.
Hope that helps.

Here's the formula for RPs/Day
(1+(Rating/100))*((MySkill+HisSkill)^2)
Also some research fields have research point multipliers. I know Starship Engineering has a 3X multiplier.

are you sure that is the formula ?

On this subject, is anyone actually picking an agent for research that is say less than 30? Is anyone choosing an agent with only an EQ of 20, so they can use it now; as opposed to waiting until you are able to use a higher agent that may take a few more days of missions to get there?
I ask this as I am trying to decide (using the RPM) whether or not to divy up the research into different fields; or maybe taking a lower grade agent (20) in the same field I already am researching. By spreading the research fields, I have more fingers in different pies. By not spreading the fields and keeping research in 1 field; I will have many more fingers in that same pie?
IE: Opinions from anyone if they are choosing
1) More fields of research to get different bp's with only a few lottery tickets in each one.
or
2) Narrowing your research to one (or a couple) fields to get less different bp's, but have more tickets per lottery drawing.
I haven't decided, and I will talk tonight with my partner on what he thinks sounds good, but I think I am leaning towards number 1 above. Less tickets, more pies.

let's say I have 1 agent training Electronic engineering, another training electromagnetic physics. Can i have another agent trining electronic engineering ? If so...do i get more chances in the lottery ?

From what I understand, you would receive those tickets for that research and all your points are added up for tickets for those individual drawings.
In your example, you would get all your points as tickets for Electromagnetic Engineering from that one agent. Then you would get your points in research as lottery tickets from the 2 agents who are researching Electronic Engineering (they would be added together for a total number of lottery tickets) for that field.

After reading some more in the forums, I saw my post that I made (above) earlier. In it, I said that all of your tickets would go into the drawing.
However, maybe not?
My assumption was that a BP is going to be drawn for and a lucky player will get it from a ticket. But maybe it is not a player that is the main identity here, but the TICKET.
If the tickets drawn were both from the same agent for the same player; would the game see it as a random event and allow the player to accept mail 1 and bp; then proceed to get bp #2?
The problem with this lottery, and for me right now, is not knowing the rules of the lottery. In my state lottery, I know the rules and put my buck on the line. In Eve, I don't know the rules of the drawing and how it affects me and my ticket(s).
I really need to locate the helpfile and/or page that posts how this lottery really works.

You can have more than one agent researching the same skill - yes. And, yes, it will give you more "tickets" to the lottery for that skill.
(But you cannot have the same agent researching more than one skill.)
