Back in the GNW I was a noob in a bantam patting myself on the back for finding massive scordite rocks, and I had no idea what I was missing out in 0.0. Back when small parties could make a difference, when losing ships had an impact on people's ability to wage war, and there was no set formula for success in territory holding or fleet warfare.
Welcome back, all the same.
You'd better believe it :) At the moment were fairly deep in a war against the CVA "vision" for an external Amarrian state in Providence where everyone has to adopt their standings and enemies and become protected by a warrior caste of proud CVA fighters at absolutely no cost*
One thing that has changed singed the GNW though is the degree to which roleplay causes and alliances are now pretty much indistinguishable from non-RP causes and alliances. CVA (for example) might well be roleplaying proud and dogmatic Amarrian slavers but they are also friends with the Goonswarm Coalition partners fighting the "Great War" in the south against Band of Brothers. The web of connections and interdependencies in 0.0 eve now transcend any RP/non-RP barriers and everyone has pretty much gotten their feet wet in the great game of politics and intrigue. JF formed an alliance called Star Fraction that has won its share of fame and notoriety over the years and we're still dauntless guerrilla fighters striving against crazy odds to make a difference and defend the interests of individual sovereignty and free choice in a dark galaxy of compromise and authoritarian tyranny. Look us up if you ever fancy shooting "the man" right in his face. *well, nothing except this little thing called freedom
If I could just make a couple of tiny corrections there - The Goons and a lot of their allies are red to the CVA, and the CVA don't force their standings on neutrals.

(unless they are needed to fight off TRI) - sorry Rodj, I'm not going to be taking the word of CVA bloc players on issues of standings setting given your inability to give straight answers on any single element of your political standings system.
And on the forcing neutrals to set standings. I've been told by neutrals in Providence that is is precisely what happens. Unless you guys get the neutrals in question to come back to me with an explanation and apology for their aggression I'm going to continue on the understanding they are given CVA standings RED list on the expectation of them shooting the people on that list.

You want to know why the CVA didn't shoot at the Goons?
Perhaps it was because of the Triumvirate fleet between the two.
Regarding the neutrals, there's plenty of discussion of them in that other thread. I suggest you look there for your answers.

Not at all Scagga old chap. I'm merely complimenting Rodj on his excellent dramatic portrayal of a slithery-tongued Amarrian politician who enjoys keeping slaves and practicing Machiavellian divide and rule manipulation techniques at the expense of his rivals. He's a brilliant roleplayer! But you'd have to be a bit dull to take anything he says as the god-given truth without checking the facts from multiple external sources first.

Glorious!
If only I'd have known, we could've shared some space juice in NYC this past weekend. I passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gum drops, and then I walked through the Lincoln Tunnel.
The Queen of Light returns, I'd have never thought this day would come.

Thanks. I'll take that as a compliment.
I always work on the assumption that people will go out and verify the things that I say, whether I'm in character or not, and consequently strive for accuracy, as some of my earlier debates with Jasmine demonstrated.

Edited by: Halseth Durn on 26/01/2008 04:28:48 I own a small moon in the XXXXXXXXX sytem and live there with my extended family and a few non-compensated employees. Some would call me "retired". It is a simple life of leasure and ease far from the hectic and stressful demands of my former self who once made the vastness of space not only my home, but a canvas on which to impose my will.
Recently, while fishing with my twin grandsons, I received a communication from the only person in this starcluster who is privy to my whereabouts. The message was simple. "Constantine has returned" For perhaps a complete minute, my thoughts dwelled upon a previous life when the lust for power awoke me every morning. At the end of this long minute I released a small sigh and cast my line back into the water.

You picked your time for a dramatic entrance into the thread old enemy. Lots of changes in the political scene in Eve since we last clashed our wits and ambitions on this forum I must say. Still, its good to see you are still alive, we are nothing if not judged by the wars we're fought and the foes we're contested with. The Great Northern War made it the hall of fame in Eve, was a defining moment and the first such conflict on that scale. Something to be proud of regardless of the details of what and how and who in its initiation. Enjoy your retirement and thank you for the kind thoughts.
