I normaly do not care about DPS, so do not add heatsinks, this leaves all 7 slots for tank. I omni tank for about 82-86 across the board or go for specific tank on 2 damage types which allows a mid slot for eccm or web (spec tank about 90 on both).
So it takes a litte longer to kill everything, but I do not buy ammo. Beams the ultimate penney pincher weapons.
If you fly Amarr you hardly ever have to buy ammo. Seriously though you fly with a 7 slot tank? Why do you really need to tank that much?
Bear in mind you have to tank less if you kill faster so its a trade off in the end.

Large tank: I can pay less attention to warp outs. Disconnects (even the best connections it happens), I log back into a health ship. Agro the entire level of a mission. 0.0 not worry about 3 BS spawn, they will die eventualy.
FYI lv4 Maruader. Mega Pulse 2 is up to 13 damage mod. Large armor Rep is up to 1196.

that is nice, do missions semi-afk. specially if you have an dedicated alt to do it with whenever you have time. Just warp in, go make coffe, start killing a few. ups got aggro frome hole room... drink some coffe and keep killing :)
training one of my chars now to caldari to do missions like that. but i have my pvp char in amarr and i want to make missions with him aswell and make them very fast and effeicent.

The best ship for lazy mission runners has to be the Domi.
Warp in. Aggro everything with your civilian gatling pulse laser. Point ship at next accel gate Release the hounds. Browse the forums, read book, watch TV, etc.
Gotta love the new drone options.
Off-topic so I'll stfu I'm only here to see what people think of the Paladin so far.

Acording to EFT Tankable DPS: 479 (comparable to a 2xLARII Abaddon and will improve on some better faction stuff and Marauders 5) Effective HP: 75500 DPS: 912 (763 guns alone with Multis!!! range 33+24 -> no need to change them in any mission... can hit anything)
The whole setup can perma run -> need max Engenering skills and the CR8 and CC8 implants. I also have the CX-2 and the g2-epsilon pluged in for that extra dmg. You could use the AX-2 implant to improve your tracking by 5%.
The ship can tank anything and kill anything really fast. No need for the web coz if anything is in your web range drones should kill it.
If i would use faction or T2 ammo the results would be better. The only thing i would change would be a faction tank. Something like Core-x LAR.
Things i love about this ship: -no need to change the crystals - you are doing your best at all ranges -can relax and just warp in and start it all
Things i hate about this ship: -PRICE :/ -> guess Core-X LAR will have to wait another few weeks...

actually this post made sense, for once!
seems like the paladin should only be used with faction (or better) moduls. now the stats climbed up to the lvl i looked for.
only problem tho is the price :)
so the stupid question... is the upgrade worth it? almost 1 bil for the ship. and x amount of hundred million isk for the moduls needed.
spend the same amount of isk on only moduls for the abaddon?
what is best?

EFT DPS: 750.3 (600 gun DPS. up to 55km with scorch) Tank: 604 tankable DPS (more then my Paladin)
Pro: -"cheap" when compared to the Paladin -that thing TANKS (even if it would be a T2 it would still be in 540 region)
Contra: -anything that is 50+km away is hard to hit and kill (see more and more NPCs that just like to hang in the 50 -65km range) -does not have the tractor beam and the salvager (a real minus??? don't think so)
So yeah its really up to you. Abaddon is great but its that little difference that makes all the difference. The same thing as with a NCR and a normal Raven. Both do the job but one does it a lot better -> for the right price. A properly fit (pimped) Paladin will be the fastest mission runner in Amarr space...

Nightmare will still beat a pimped Paladin though. If you use Tachs Rudius switch to Amarr Navy Multifreq L, more dps, bugger all cost.

to bad the nightmare need caldari BS skill and shield tanking skills if not i would get one ASAP.
but training that on my char, neeeeever :)
