Hi,
Just wondering, is it best to position all your guns (on a medium tower) around the same spot or split them up 50/50 on each side of the tower?
We ahve a mixture of Rails, Blasters & Lasers (med / small).
Thanks,
A.

Edited by: Turd Hurdler on 20/12/2007 22:48:54 I personally would suggest that you have half at the top of the tower and the other half at the bottom of it. That way it makes it alittle better and prevents people from keeping max distance from the guns as if they were all clustered together.
But thats just my opinion, Ive seen lots of deathstars and some have them all together, some split 50/50 and then a rare few where they are spread asll over which I think sucks.

I'm curious as to why you think having them all over sucks. Its annoying to refill each, true, but since pos shields are spherical, the top and bottom have not special meaning. You can sit equally far away from both sets and take less damage. Granted you might get hit by more guns as the gun on the far side of the pos won't hit you, but you gain that in having more guns closer to you that are doing better hits (assuming you are in a sniper position).

Technically speaking a balanced approach by which you cover your Z,X and Y axis at two points along each axis is the best approach. This gives you maximum coverage and eliminates weak points in your coverage. ------------------------------------------------- **** Name ONE thing that your windows comp can do that my MAC cant

Hm. The next best approach would be a 4-cluster setup.. where each cluster is positioned at the edges of a tetrahedron.

Edited by: Liadan Khanum on 21/12/2007 19:03:45 I always it was a good idea to concentrate the large guns and spread out the small ones.
The large weapons are to kill any attacking BS (this is for Hi sec). Types to use are Med Arties or Cruise Missiles Its best to concentrate as much as possible so I figure 2 clusters, 1 at the top and one at the bottom (any opposite positions work but this is just the easiest to define).
The small weapons are to deal with fast orbiting nussiance craft or anything that tries to get close to the heavy weapons. These should be fast firing and fast tracking (I like small lasers, but autocannon will work too). I placed these in 4 clusters around the equator so that the each cover the large weapon clusters and each other, I think it about 24 km on a Med tower.
Note: i never got a chance to test it as weapons on hi sec POS were useless in Rev 2. I guess I should redeploy for trinity :)

I cluster em. atleast on my deathstars. this to make it as hard as possible to see which guns is anchored/online(for intel purpuse aswell while fighting), and target 1 gun is a bit harder when 20 others show up when u try to hower u mouse over it. ofc it can be fixed by useing ure overview, but then again u cant see any hostiles incomming:p ¿

Having them spread out around the grid will force attackers to move to warp in at different points around the shield in order to knock everything out. That's pretty much the only benefit I've found with that sort of setup. It's more of a time-sync to attack a POS that way as it's best to keep the fleet together even if everyone doesn't have a similar optimal.
