Edited by: Swift on 16/03/2004 00:33:41 It recently struck me that an option that EVE really needs is a way to store ship module configs - so if a cruiser or a battleship is used for mining and needs to be outfitted quickly for battle, all that is required is a key press of a pre saved configuration of modules. Then those items are fitted into the relevant slots as stated in the configuration - if the item is no longer in the hanger, the slot is left empty.
The roleplay reason would be that the hanger is likely to have staff and engineers that help each ship be fitted - so why would there not be a way to quickly inform them to quickly fit 'configuration A' or 'configuratiom B'. for a certain ship? It would make life a lot easier than going through everything in your hanger and manually fitting into each slot the relevant module when you change jobs for the ship.
Wouldn't you like that feature? I don't think its a balance question - simply a question of making life a lot easier. You name the configuration slot and click 'save' and it automatically saves the current 'set up'. Then if you change modules, choose another 'config save slot', name it and click save. Boom, two quick module set change options.
Example:- Kestrel frigate is docked in a station.
Premade options:
Save slot one: Rocket Boat Save slot two: Courier Configuration Save slot three: Something else
etc. One click, few seconds pause as the ship is fitted, and then a message saying 'Your ship is now ready'. with a warning message if certain modules from the setup are missing: 'Warning - certain modules were not available and those slots have been left empty'.
Inventory items can be included in this so for rocket configs, if the save slot had recorded 200 Havoc heavy missiles in your cargo bay at the time, loading it later will try and put that amount into your inventory and warn you if it has not found that amount (and put it as many as it has found).

Just keep this topic bumped so people can have a looksie - I think its a must have... I know personally its a pain just to refit a Moa for different things, battleships and other ships etc could seriously benefit from this simple function of saving ship configs I think. Please think about it CCP.. looks like could be easy to program in. -----

Ahh snap... just a few hours after me ;) I figured other players would think of this.. hell I wondered why this was never a part of the game! Hope the devs think about adding this soon.. can't be too difficult but it is a superb function to put in.
