But seriously, I'd really like CCP to come out and clarify Hilmar's comment about "Devs in Goonswarm", because frankly if its true, most of us would dearly like them to get the hell out of our alliance. If people think an eventual goon victory was tainted by this sort of nonsense, then neither your side, nor ours, is going to feel good about it.

For serious CCP, clarify this. Was Hilmar just spouting PR nonsense like we suspect, or have CCP not listen to a god damn thing we said when we asked CCP not to meddle in alliance affairs.

What interests me in this is not especially what was said, but how it was said. Listen to the voices. they are quiet, subdued. They sounded defeated. Take the guy at the beginning when he was saying "I..i..i truly believe that they are all going to die" he obviously was trying to make himself believe it, but the fact he was stammering shows that energy was being taken from him saying it and there was a bit if resistance to him saying it, which means that he didn't believe it really but he was trying to make himself believe it. And there is the obvious signs of strain in their voices.

To be quite honest this really isn't a very good drama bomb at all. Its just a bunch of people ranting through a late night complaining routine because they are a little bit annoyed at the server not working properly. I think everyone who has ever been in a corporation in Eve (with more than 2 members) had listened to this kind of thing in the past and its not exactly newsworthy.

What is more interesting is the degree to which it illustrates:

a) The kinda creepy obsessive quality of 24/7 voice comms infiltration aspiration which reminds a little of the East German experience before the wall came down. (I'd recommend the op go down the dvd shop and rent Leben der Anderen, Das It is an excellent exploration of these themes)

b) That there is a fair degree of bottom of the barrel-scraping in the current propaganda ... (I hesitate to use the word offensive in its military sense) and perhaps you guys should try another approach?

c) It is actually quite heartening that by and large the ordinary population of the game has lost patience for this stuff and perhaps in the future it will simply sweep away unremarked on the tidal currents of CAOD to sink to the bottomless oceans of obscurity where such content truly belongs.

As a veteran of many many years of political manipulation and public relations initiatives in this medium I have to let you know that publishing the late night meandering grumps of some bored alliance footsoldiers is hardly going to set the world aflame. Nor is making the somewhat incredible claim that these people have the same level of seniority and influence as high level alliance leadership in the opposing sphere that happily authorizes exactly the kind of thing you'd appear to be condemning here. Its weak my friend. Weaksauce cooked up in a weak cooking pot on national weak day by the Scalding Pass regional weak association for consideration in the annal weakness awards.
