Im new to this game so I have a small question about Bounty Hunters...
1) How do you become one?
2) Where is the prey list?
3)Is this a "full time job" or can you hunt the preys down anywhere at anytime?

U pretty much can only do it for fun, not alot of isk to b made.
if u are lucky, u can have the chance to kill ppl like algazara whom have over inflated bounties that can only possibly be put on by themselves:).

Never figrued to see alga on again, or did he sell his account. In any case you can do it but not for money really, normally costs much more then u make.

as far as your questions,
#1- I'd join a corp, celes for instance and my corp both bounty hunt. You need numbers and to learn from somone who knows what their doing or you'll be in a pod often.
#2- The list is in the station services under missions, just click the bounty tab.

1. Join a corp of bounty hunters and gain experience (youll need it)
2. There is no prey list per se! We tend to just know who the bad guys are and hunt them. I guess it depends which outfit your with really. Most bounty hunters I know play a mixture of Bounty hunting/Alliance wars and personal corp wars as we do.
3. Yes for me although I earn nothing from it to be honest. Well thats not quite true but if I told you how we get paid id have to come and kill you. Its secret squirrel stuff :) I dont make any money from bountys as such (not often anyways) It is difficult to locate prey (pirates) Much more easy to locate prey of presonal corp wars etc.
Mostly I would suggest to have fun and develop your character. EVE is huge now and you never know who your going to meet. Some will cheat you, some will kill you and smack talk about it. Smile at them all. Personally I like to Role Play a cold caculating character but then thats me. Find as many Pirates as you can and kill them! Then have a laugh about it with them. Always remember its a game and your here to have fun..

When push comes to shove, most dont care if its self-made or not. As long as it ends up in your own wallet

What people are trying to say Lightkeeper, is that bounty hunting is a very costly bussiness and very hard to do successfully especially solo and especially for a consistent income.
Usually those individuals who have the highest bounties on them, and therefore the most profitable, have those bounties for a reason. Meaning they are usually EXTREMELY well armed and extremely crafty and almost never travel alone but in giant pirate packs. So basically its like trying to find a viper in the dark and once you find it, you usually get bit.
Therefore players that chose to pursue these wanted criminals alone usually end up getting the tar beat out of them, losing their ship, and being podded and thus loosing money. However, like everyone else has mentioned, corporations often have members that group bounty hunt, although the prey still escapes more often than not making the profession a poor source of income.

ps) if you want to look at the pirates with the most outstanding bounties its on the menu bar in the station. Should be next to the insurance or market bar.
pps) unless you consider hunting npc pirates bounty hunting (most players call this rat hunting), then its just a matter of finding a lower security system, warping to the asteroid belts and killing an NPC pirates found

Only good use on bountys is to greif Carebears who have head full of implants
i am trying to make an organisation who find out - how many implants a person have
and then put the bounty on him that equals half of the value of the implants

I think bounty hunting should be done for role playing reasons it would get dull leaning on indys, but you'd better haver a few indys working all the other hours to keep you in ships and clones

who ever doubts me. Have a run at me and you can then deside if u want to pay some ISK to my head after i kicked ur sorry ass. I have been on bounty list for over 6 months and i have earned it. I have once being podded due to a CTD bug but that was way back. Yes this is me guys and yes i had a long brake. Before you talk out of ur ass be ready to back it up f00l.

You can bounty hunt in all asteroidbelts exept for the ones in 0.9 and 1.0 systems... u can easily make a livin' out of it!
