Why? Look at the speed, the sig, resistances, slot layout and price. It's wonderful.

scimitar has high speed, good cap, and as hippo said...a nice slot layout. With that, its immensely good as a tackler.

rapiers and huginns are also good for stopping enemy tacklers reaching your snipers

A viable fleet ship is a ship setup that caters to the lowest common denominator of fleet combat...long range, long range, and then some long range. The general idea is to minimize the possibility of a low number of your fleet being able to hit a target, by making them as long range as possible. Some people think 'sniping' in fleets is about being able to run...which is incorrect...at least from my point of view.

Depends on the fleet. But i would say you should have a remote repper and weapons in the highs, general tackle, speed, cap booster in mids, and tank in the lows[ some fleets spider tank so no need for rep(just plate tank), other fleets are mixed and spread so you will need rep, just depends on the situation].

I'd like to see you trying to coordinate RR with 100 bs, or even be able to lock before the target instapopped.
There is a reason RR gangs are called gangs while sniper fleets are called fleets.

All of Bruces fleet fits, even snipers, have RR. With the heavy plate tanks you have time to get rep, usualy. The plate tanks have also been DD tested and survived, we just used the RR after the fight.

No you dont, average time for a target to pop is 5-10 seconds. Not long enough to lock+cycle one remote rep, thats not counting module activation lag.
For repping after fight, thats why you have a couple of guardians and have all the BS carry a couple of rep drones. No need to gimp your snipers by fitting a remote rep.

Plate tank with resist last way longer than rep tanks because of the hp buffer. This extra time alows the RR fleets to function.

Err... no-one suggested an active tank on a sniper bs. What he said was that you're going to die in 5-10 seconds if you're primaried. I'm assuming that that is with a bit of a buffer tank because that's what people tend to fit anyway. Granted, the time will be longer for smaller fights but if the fight gets small enough that you're not killing ships with one or two volleys then it's probably too small to call a fleet.

150km optimal, 200km lock, fit mwd, cap stable, maximise product(dps, effective hitpoints)
End of discussion.

rather have eagles tbqh. Rapiers and Huginns have long range webs, but they are still very vulnerable to concentrated fire. Eagles and Zealots and Muninns at 100-200km simply arent.
