Since my ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro has been giving me some infrequent instability problems, and also where I can't update my drivers because that causes Eve not to even fully load, I was wondering how NVidia users are faring overall? While I wouldn't expect a crashless experience, I think ATI users are getting a worse experience. I'm considering getting a different video card which is why I am asking.

mine has run fine since beta 6 on Gef3 ti, gef4 ti and fx5700

My father uses the ATI All in Wonder, and has no problems with it. I use Nvidea and I think Nvidea is better imho.

I upgraded from a Geforce2 GTS to a Radeon 9800 Pro AIW 2 days ago. Im using the latest drivers off the website and i have no performance issues whatsoever. The only times where eve crashed was when i tried changing the rest higher than the res my desktop was set at. At that point i changed my desktop res and was able to get eve working again.
As for Nvidia vs ATI i would still go for ATI any day of the week, they just build better cards IMHO. That and im from Toronto so i gotta support the home town boys!

Used to have a Radeon 9000, but it was only causing various kinds of problems so I got a Asua V9570 TD FX 5700 256mb and now I can run two clients at the same time without any problems at all...
Just because something is fixed doesn't mean you can't break it

I've got a 9700 Pro running on one PC and an FX5900 on the other. No stability issues with either. Only difference is the ATI has better luck changing resolutions and changing between windowed and full screen mode.

i have a ati 9600 pro (tyan tackion, realy fast for the ú99 it cost me)
i used to have a nvidia card but ati cards have more bang for buck tbh

Running a 9800Pro 128mb & 9600Pro 128mb without any problems at all 
Also running latest drivers off the site. You might want to consider to clean all video drivers off the computer and reinstall with the latest ones.
Try going to www.guru3d.com. I know the detonator destroyer worked for the nVidia card when I uninstalled it on my system, thought it had an option for ATI drivers as well too. Might want to give that a whirl because it cleans all drivers off the computer related to selection you make when running it.
Had a huge huge list when my Ti4400 was uninstalled to fit in my 9800Pro

Running an ATI 9800 pro w/ 512 meg. It is awesome and runs Eve great!
Try getting the 3rd party Omega drivers. Also remember after you deinstall older drivers, always run a driver cleaner. I recommend Driver Cleaner 2.

these are my experiences with a GeForce 4 Ti4600,
with the oldest drivers (version 2.7.4.2) I don't seem to have any problems with EVE at all. By this I mean I can run a maximum of 4 clients on the same PC at the same time.
With the newer drivers though EVE runs slightly faster (and I get slightly better benchmarks on 3DMark2001) although it simply won't allow me to run more than 1 client on the PC at the same time. i.e. the other clients will load up then last about 5-30 seconds before simply closing themselves. This never happens with the older drivers which is why I haven't been able to upgrade my Nvidia to the latest versions yet. This problem is exactly the same on both Win2K and WinXP and has also been tested running the GPU clock at standard 300 Mhz and OCed to 315Mhz (the fastest it will get to and stay stable lol)

Been using an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro since release and have never had a problem with it. I used to be an nvidia junkie before this card but now I'm never going back, ATI has r0x0red my b0x0rz.

I would stick with ATI. I belive there technology with Direct X is better then Nvida and there 2D performance is also better. They utlized there tech better, as Nvida has become a house hold name they got a bit sloppy as they become over confident, same as what happened with Intel vs AMD, AMD caught up.
TBH its worth waiting, there a range of new technology comming out on motherboards, PCI Express, DDR2 and other things.If your not interested in spending on the new things, its obvious they will be expensive, but on the + the old era of AGP Cards will drop,and myself will be after a top ATI card. ATI get better with every Driver relase, NVIDA you never know...

Same way Nvidia overtook 3DFx back in the old days.
I just recently got an ATI 9800 Pro and after a few BIOS tweaks to stop some stability issues and graphical glitches it runs like a charm with no trouble. Max resolution, max everything in fact and EVE runs silky smooth and looks fantastic.
My GeForce 3 that I replaced would not occlude the sun (sun would shine thorugh all objects) which was somewhat annoying but it too ran great with no hiccups save for switching between full screen and windowed mode.

I would say you are correct when it comes to the low end buget cards, but when speaking in terms of gfx 5900, and the radeon 9800, ure looking at close to the same performance, the 5900 will get better fps in some cases, and the 9800 will do the same, as for video quality wise i go with the nvidia i have seen what both cards can do and in my personal opnion the graphics quality is better, ATI cards seem to apply a "faded" look to the graphics making it look a bit odd, and the colors arent very vibrant either, but again these are my own personal opinions

If u want stability over absolutly perfect image, u take Nvidia... but if u want the best, u should grab a Radeon card.
u can get stability on a Radeon card, but it takes a serious effort... finding and testing several drivers, along with different driver/BIOS settings... or u can be lucky, and it all runs smoothly!
Personally, i got a Nvidia card at home, and Radeon on my work. The radeon cards makes the day interesting ;)

BTW, some of my radeon problems where resetting GPU, and variuos serious graphical errors(shutdowns aplication/game)... Though none of these errors cam from EVE, Radeon runs EVE stable and fast and beatifull :D

I bought my 9700 a year ago and about to swtich to a 9800, i had nothing but positive experience with it. Ati is a very flexible company and they are usualy quick to replace troublesome equipment. I realy think that Nvidia is harder to deal with because the company monopolized the market for several years, starting from their Geforce 2 line and up until Geforce 4. Then ATI came out with their 9000 series, and all models 9600 and up are more cost efficient, more stable and have better benchmark results than Nvidia competition. I understand that i might be bias towards ATI at this point, but i honestly think they have better product, AND better customer support. Also i believe that ATI has better drivers than Nvidia.

I'm fortunate to be one of the 'lucky' guys when it comes to computers. Never really known why, but I treat these PC's like crap, and they still come back for more. Although I do go through a lot of hard drives...
I'm going to get a Radeon 9800pro 128mb this week, in preparation for ut2k4, and hopefully this will be as stable as all my other cards.
I've always stuck with nvidia before. Not because I'm a fanboy, just because the nvidia drivers were always much better. This seems to be levelling out now, and the ati clearly outperforms the matching nvidia at the moment.
If I remember, or get a chance between cranking up the graphics on all my old games, playing eve with FSAA, and playing ut2k4, I'll jump in and let you know how I got on.

That's what I got at the moment, and I get the same shimmering. At least it doesn't have the z-buffer glitching since the client update.
I play at 1280x1024 windowed, and FSAA/AF drop the framerate far too low for my poncey tastes.

Nvidia TI4600 + Windows XP Pro - running the game works fine. However the computer will not shut down first time after I've played. Seems to create an invalid file entry
