Hi,
I hope someone can help me with this problem, here is the information which I hope will help you understand how to fix it:
System Specs: WinXP Pro SP 2 Dell Latitude D620 Intel Core 2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00 GHz 2 Gig Ram NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M DirectX 9.0c
Tried running both the classic and premium Client.
I am trying to run EVE on my work laptop, and do not have admin rights. I tried various setups, with either a copy of my EVE folder on the laptos harddisk, or a installation of the EVE on a portable harddisk (made from a different PC). Either way, when I try to launch the client, I get the "Insufficient privileges to install the required version of D3DX. Click yes to continue, but application my not run" , after I click yes, I get: "The application has failed to start because d3dx9_35.dll was not found. Re-installing the application my fix this problem"
I downloaded the d3dx9_35.dll file, however cannot place it into Windows/System32 due to insufficient rights. I tried to copy it into the eve folder, this then copys the dll into a temp folder when starting the client, however still gives the same error message.
I cannot run the installer due to insufficient rights.
Hope someone can help :)

I'm not aware of any way to install D3DX without admin rights.

I forced you to answer with something obvious? Thing is you arent even right in what you think is obvious, since there is a work around of running EVE by using a copy of the folder/installation on external harddrive. However there does not seem to be a workaround of the missing D3DX9_35.dll file.
DirectX 9.0c is installed, so I hope(d) there is some trick to get the game to run (in another post a user mentiones something similar but does not detail how he did it) Here
Thanks for constructive replies. No thanks to cptJackass style posts

Well, me not either. But there is still a major issue with how the game checks for the D3Dx version at startup.
Please check in here:

I have this issue petitioned for over a week now and no reply - same with the forums postings too ...

d3dx9_35.dll is version 35 of the direct 3d 9.0c extensions.
Essentially it's part of an updated version of direct-x 9.0c. You need to install it to play eve, and you need admin rights to install it.
No way around it.
I do have one question though: How did you install eve? (It's very easy to break company policy by putting something on a work pc/laptop that you shouldn't) nullnull |

Take over the Administrators account? Pretty easy if you can boot from a CD.

DirectX 9.0c is the latest however there are monthly updates of it, which arent released via winupdate or any other update site. It has to be downloaded and installed manually. d3dx9_35.dll is in one of the updates.
Only answer is, get admin rights and install it, no way around. You can reset administrator password, but company will find out :)
