After all these years .. are we ever going to see 24 hr uptime? 11 am - 12 GMT downtime is such a pain in the backside. I'm sure the original plan was to phase this out.
Meh wife always decides that she will go and do something on her own at that time .. but there's no Eve to play with *cry*

Sure I can amuse myself for an hour .. but selfishly I want the game to be up at a time convenient to me.
Shove the downtime period to the middle of the night GMT so the US can enjoy the downtime period during the day for a change .. after all, they're just as capable of amusing themselves for an hour as us Euro folk.

Somehow I don't see the folks in london who would have to do the downtime maintenance agreeing with your point of view.

Use the one hour the servers are down for something neccesary. Shopping, get laid, eating, showering, calling in sick, rest.. etc.
Honestly, its only one hour! The servers have to go down for some critical maintainance. I am sure we all will survive the one hour the server is down. At least now in the christmas time

They wrote this game to appease their London ops guys - or for the enjoyment of MMO gamers?
Seriously though - I'm not really expecting them to ***** around shifting downtime - but they were talking about 24/7 operation initially so I was just curious. The timing could be better from a European perspective.
Just think of all the useful things you could do though in that hour .. like pod Richard Phallus .. say - 20 times or so.

So when the game launched - CCP touted the idea that one day it would go 24 hr without downtime. What's the problem asking about that?
But no .... you have to launch yourself in there with the 'whiny child' spiel like you're important. Before I post next - remind me to cross reference the 'northwesten' guide to appropriate forum etiquette. I would hate to offend you again by posting a topic that offends your mighty stature - or post in a fashion that you find displeasing your highness.
May I suggest that by removing the corn cob from where it's currently placed - it would make your stay at these forums more pleasing?

it is a common myth that the hours downtime is actually needed. It's there simply so people can load up eve mon and eve fit, and attach ever more expensive setups to frigate, create a ship template called 'mypwnmobiletitan' then worry porry over the 3.9 years their current skillplan will take. -------------------------------------------- Threads are stacking-nerfed; the more posts you add the less effective those posts are. mooooooo. |

Me too, I guess people just enjoy belittling others when they see the opportunity arise.
Funny how much more it happens over the internet and almost never in real life.

in extension to this i find it, 'innacurate', how people will value others lost game time (from dt or server breakage) as subscription cost/hours in a month, as if they play, or could play, for every single hour in a month.

Makes me think. I like the downtime because the server is just coming back up when I'm waking up in the morning. Or it's been up for a few hours. Either way it doesn't bother me.

I figure it this way....those who can't bear to be away from EVE for even a single hour....probably aren't doing things that keep them in the gene pool. If such trends continue, these folks won't be passing on their genetic material to the next generation, possibly making the human species a little healthier. _______________________________
