Time to move up to bc :)
Need some help in deciding what ship is best for me.
Will run mostly missions with it and want to use rails.

For missions I'd do a Ferox; better resists, better tank, greater optimal range.

i would go brutix. they both have roughly same strength in tank (resist = +rep bonus). ferox has 5 unbonused turrets compared to the brutixs 7 bonused.
after reading post below, brutix can field a wing of medium drones, ferox is a wing of light drones.

I've always used railguns and its been a challange. Like Worlds collide in a Commarant but fun nevertheless. When the time came for battlecruisers I used Ferox and oh boy what a hassel it was. Some lvl 3 missions where hard and tiresome since railguns have optimal range for each ammo type. Anyhow I'ts doable with rails but I switched rails with launchers on my Ferox just for the fact that its faster to do missions with launchers. My missile skills wren't any good compared to gunnery skills.
Since I lacked dps I noticed drones helped alot so I wonder if Ferox is the right choice? |

Ferox is a complete flop.
5 vs 7 turrets(and no damage bonus either).
light vs medium drones.
I'd take the time to train for a Brutix hands down.

Why not the Drake or Myrmidon, they're SO much better?

Anything but the ferox!
Drake is good, if you want rails, use a gallente ship, either of them is better than the ferox. In fact, every other battlecruiser in the game is better than the ferox.

It depends what you want to use the ship for:
Mission Ferox
5x HML II, Tractor, Salvager
2x LSE II, 2x Rat Hardener II, Shield Recharger II
2x BCU II, 2x SPR II
3x CDFP I
5x Hornet II
Tanks 430 against Guristas (for example), and deals out 296 DPS (of whatever appropriate type).
Mission Brutix
7x 200mm Rail II
TC II, 3x Cap Recharger II
MAR II, 3x Rat Hardener II, MFS II
2x Aux Nano Pump, CCC
5x Vespa II
Tanks 370 against Guristas, and deals out 423 of limited damage types (Excels against Serpentis, Guristas, Caldari Navy.. weak against Sansha, Blood, Angels, etc)
The real issue, however, is that the Tier 2 BC's completely outmatch the Tier 1's...
Mission Drake
7x HML II
3x LSE II, 2x Rat Hardener II, Sensor Booster II
3x BCU II, Beta SPR
3x CDFP I
5x Hornet II
Really a tough fit, and it'll require a 1% CPU implant unless you drop to something named (probably the sensor booster tbh)
Deals out 450 DPS and tanks 480 (Guristas)
Mission Myrmidon
6x 200mm Rail II
10mn AB II/TC II, 4x Cap Recharger II
MAR II, 3x Rat Hardener II, 2x MFS II
3x Aux Nano Pump
5x Vespa II
Tanks 401 (Guristas) and deals out 444 - with the versatility offered by drones.
So we can see that you can output "roughly" equivalent tank/gank with either tier of battlecruiser - but Tier 2 entirely outperforms Tier 1.
Note that I didn't include a Hybrid setup Ferox (even though its "bonused" that direction), because it's relatively useless in missions that way.
So my recommendation to you:
If you have good Gunnery: Myrmidon/Brutix
If you have no drone skills AT ALL: Brutix
Otherwise: Myrmidon
If you have good Missiles: Ferox/Drake
If you like exercizes in frustration: Ferox
If you like Easy Pwn Missions And ISK: Drake
If you're neutral to Myrmidon or Drake: Drake pwns Myrmidon in missions, and leads the way to the most uberest of all mission vehicles: The Raven.
Yes, I've been down all of these paths by various characters. ;-)

Nice info guys.
Think i'll go for the Brutix after all.
Have almost no skills in either drones or missiles.
