Hi 2 all, I'm using my new Retriever
High 2 Strip Miner I Med 1 1MN Afterburner I Low 2 Expanded Cargohold II
I have problems when I start to warp... the capacitor becomes empty and appear a message saying that probably the warp will be not completed (in fact it doesn't complete ) I have currently trained Energy Systems Operation and Warp Drive Operation to level 1, but I need more capacitor... I think I'll train both to level 2, but the question is:
the 1MN Afterburner I is absolutely useless, what module will you put in there? I have read about Retriever setup... someone puts a Cap Recharger I, but my capacitor full at 90% becomes empty when i start a warp so I (think) don't need a recharger but a cap "booster". What module can I use?
Thanks Cya

a cap battery might solve your problem. It gives you a fixed increase in cap, but you might have trouble fitting a large enough one to make a difference. ________________________________

I'd train warp drive operation to at least level 4. Train energy management skill up to 4/5. If you're still having problems, which I doubt you will have - and in the mean time - you can use a cap battery.

Energy Systems Operation does not increase your cap size; that job is for Energy Management.
Also, ditch the expanded cargoholds, there's no possible way for a Retriever to hold two cycles of ore without rigs, so you may as well focus on something else. ------------------- I nerfed my own sig To amuse you, here is my Retriever ever since its first Trinity deployment. Wrong, if OP uses T1 strips.

Are you sure? I'm able to do two cycles... with 2 Expanded Cargohold II, I have a cargo volume major than 3200 m3. 1 cycle I obtain about 1700 m3 so I fill cargo in 2 cycles... it's perfect -- 7tio Uklector |

Thank you... I think training Energy Systems Operation is an error... instead Energy Management will raise my cap so I'll go for it... ty

Well, unique Capacitor Battery modules I could fit are of class Micro (Small doesn't fit) and no one sell them
So I'll go for skills

I recently jumped my industrial alt into a Retriever as well. Having been mining in an Osprey for a good while. My fit:
Lows:
1 x Mining Laser Upgrade 1 x PDU
Mid:
1 x Survey Scanner (might need electronics V and mining upgrades to IV to fit actually)
High:
2 x T1 Strip Miners
With current lvl of skills and my own gang bonuses this does a shade under 1k m3 per cycle.
My cap skills are rubbish, and I also experience sometimes being unable to warp straight to a location. As the above posters have said train warp drive operation to at least 3 or 4. You can also train Energy Management which will give you extra cap to play with.
Just remember, for some skills to become worthwhile it is almost essential to train up to lvl 4. ------------------------------------------ The Killers: 'I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier' Bill Baily: That's ********, it's like saying "I've got ham, but I'm not a hamster" |

Go take a look at Navigation skills. There are seven that you should train (exclude the Capital-type pair) so as to be able to align, warp and use afterburners more efficiently with better speed and lower use of energy.
Get them all up to IV and you won't have problems with cross systems jumps flaming out in mid space.
Another benefit of doing this is that these skills will benefit *all* ships' performances, not just your mining vessel.

You can get implants for cap too, look up 'CC8' and 'CR8'.

Tnks 2 all
Yeah I have trained Energy Management at lvl 1 and Warp Drive Operations at lvl 2... but nothing... as you say, I'm going for Warp Drive Op at lvl 3 and (probably) 4, but I'm wonder if the reason of this problems is Expanded Cargohold II, 'cause they have a -20% on speed
what do you think?

All they do is make you slower, they don't affect your ability to warp long distances or affect the capacitor in any way. The Retriever simply has a bit of a capacitor problem which can be helped with capacitor skills and warp drive operation, and those are skills you would want to train anyhow as they are, simply, quite excellent and will help any ship you fly :).
