i downloaded this game yeterday for a 10-day free trial, and when i go to make my avatar he is either bald, wearing no cloths, has bugs (or something that looks like them) crawling on his face, cant add plates or any deco, and for femals its just as bad only they have lipstick prints all over there body and bald head, and finaly after i compromise to make my char look the best use what i can the screen shot it takes is all distorted or something other than my avatar.
so far i have tryed updating my drivers, re-downloading direct-x, re-downloading the game and installing, and i have contacted support but have yet to hear from them. now i really glad i didnt buy this game. however it looks like a lot fun to play, so if anyone know of a resolution to this problem please reply.

If you are using the most recent nVidia drivers, some players have reported issues with in-game images.
I would recommend actually using a previous version of those drivers.
Also, when you re-installed the game did you delete the contents of the EVE folder? Specifically 'c:\program files\ccp\eve\cache'? Many of the images used for portraits are pre-generated, and I have found that waiting for a little while after adjusting/loading the image seems to alleviate this problem.
I hope this helps.... --------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I've been having this problem too... I'm really interested in this game... I just wish it worked. I've also been having problems with planet textures and such. "I don't follow fate, I create my own destiny" |

I've got the baldness problem too. And I've tried different drivers without any success. But to my surprise, I kinda like my avatar to be bald. With hair I look like a kiddo...

The "bugs" are actually make-up and decorations. All my female chars have them. It looks like crap and I complained about it on day 6 (didn't have the game on day 1). Never got a satisfactory answer, I just might try rolling my driver back a few stages

I'm having the exact same problem as Zero, with a mobility radeon 7500 / omega catalyst driver 4.2. I figured it was just due to an old/unsupported card but I'll try an earlier version of the omega drivers and see what happens..

Installed the old 3.9 catalyst drivers, cleared the cache.. and my eve universe is still populated by bald men and women with parasites all over their face & neck.. oh well :(

I have the same problem with bald avatars on my Radeon 8500 when I use any ATI Driver equal or above 3.9. I might try the old 3.7 again, since it worked very well before.
