Ok, so I'm a caldari pilot, who started out in missiles, but has decided he likes guns better. Unfortunately, although I read the Players Guide on them, I'm still at a loss as to how I can make sure they hit a lot more often than they currently do.
For example, as I understand it, medium guns should work well against Moa Cruisers. However, I just spent about 3 minutes shooting one with no appreciable affect, despite being well within range, AND using a sensor booster, and a webifier.
So what am I missing?

Ok first what ship are you using and what type of guns (hybrids/lasors/projectiles)? Is this a NPC Moa or a player using the Moa cruiser? What are your gunnery skills like?

Maybe lack of skills in gunery supot, skill like Motion prediction - increase tracking speed sharpshoter -increase optimal trajectory analise - increase fall off Maybe doing it wrong, like orbiting too close (so you had tracking issues) or missreadsomething in you turret info.
More info may lead for a better answer. Pan |

Herm, well, this is going to make you laugh, but I bought an apocalypse for myself as a Christmas present. Now, I decided to test it against a few NPCs, and that was the result.
Of course, I have no intention of seriously flying this thing until I have some more skillpoints under my belt, but I would like to know what points to be learning. I was using lasers, BTW.

Medium guns can lock onto medium (cruiser) sized targets without any problems but if they're transversal is faster than your tracking speed you're still not going to hit them.
If you're using artillery minimize their transversal by forcing them to follow you as you fly back and forth in straight lines (with an afterburner going for best effect). If you're using autocannons try orbiting further out, ACs usually work best when they're in their falloff range, too close and you can't track anything.

Ok so you're using lasers against Guristas rats? They tank EM quite well so your damage without high skills will be pathetic. Better off using either hybrids (which deal kin/therm and that is guristas weakest tanking resists) or projectiles (which can use phased plasma ammo). If you plan on training Amarr ships/weapons to a high level and run missions I'd suggest switching to Amarrian missions so you get enemies that are weak to your main damage types.

High EM resists?
Hmm. That could explain quite a bit. Nice to know I don't totally suck.

Have a look in this part of the forums Mission Guides and at this for specific information on NPC rats and their tanking/damage dealing abilities, Elfarto's win database of NPC's.

Hmm. Great. Looks like I'll be training both Railguns AND Lasers.
(Blood Raider and Guristas missions.)
Oh well, I wanted to build a Rokh anyway.

Just remember to train your support skills to mate as that effects any racial gunnery you might use in future.

Actually, I think I'm stronger in the support skills than in the turret skills. Go figure.
Thanks for all the help.
I use CrumpleCorn(tm) Sigs, because they (and he) are awesome! |

Don't forget that the type of ammo u load into guns affects your range unlike missles.
So if u loaded multifreqency ur range is half of what the base is.
