Just downloaded the the demo version of the fraps with sound, but it doesn't seem to like my gfx card, or a setting somewhere. (Creative G-force 4, ti4200) and just gives me really distorted horizontal lines accross the whole thing... Any ideas?

lol, this was the dogs *******s a year ago, and still is quite hefty. (well, runs u/r 2004 quite well)

Play with the interlace settings ingame.

It's not that, I get it too on my Radeon 9600. It happens in other games, too.
I've been searching for a fix to this for about 6 months now. All i've found out so far is that it's something to do with the fast-write capability.

fraps has a max res of 1024*768 - at a guess you are running eve at a higher res than this?

Its the demo version itself, I had similar problems till I bought it. Then they all went away.
It refresh rate and window mode that causes all the issues.
I now run at 1280*1024@85hz and capture at half size, that way i get good clean footage.

It happens in a few games, including eve. I get black lines across portraits and planets.

I got a GeForce 4 Ti4200 with 128 Mb and I use Fraps without any problem.
Never had any, even when updating drivers...
It might be your Eve instal that got some pb...

And in every other game that it happens on? :P
I know it's got something to do with Graphics files, as it only happens on things that are stored as pictures. I.e portrait captures.

I have a Ti 4200 and it runs fine aswell ... cept for the slow down :( i need a faster CPU ... it goes down from 20-25 fps to around 8-13 when recording. I use a DV Camcorder connected to my video-out to record some of my fights. This causes no fps slow down ... but the movies seem to be a little worse quality (or around the same as half sized fraps).
have a look at my little movie if you want an idea of the quality ... i dont know if better camera's get better quiality tho.

Ive only ever used fraps on CS demos. then it was glitchy, i think u need a pretty beefy PC for anything fleet wise.
either that or EVE be made to make demo files. would help a great deal in petitions...

You can probably turn off Fast Writing to the AGP slot in the BIOS.

I had the same thing with the Demo on a 9800 Pro. Get yourself a full copy of version 2. You may not want to pay for one though until you know it works.
