I know what you mean by the lost magic. That's why I'm back, even thou I swore not to play EVE again. For starters I think that Armageddon ruined it a bit for me. Because when I bought that "free" battleship and flew out I got the feeling right away that it was exactly the same as a frigate. Because of the relative camera distance, it didn't look big and cool. It just looked as a different design, nothing else.
And then, when the game finally came I realized after a while that EVE isn't vast, everything just takes a long time to do.
But nothing so far have beaten the feeling of running the M00 blockade of the Mara system with an instant jump bookmark I got from a friend. This was just a day or two after the first pirate corps started rising to fame by forever changing the course of this game...
After that I decided that being a star cartographer was a nice course to take, I envisioned a large market for bookmarks helping traders to run blockades. So I started to make Instant Bookmarks. I spent over 3 weekĘs bookmaking systems. When CCP finally decided that instant bookmarks were a bad IdŚe, I had instant bookmarks to every star gate and every station for 3 whole regions and was working my fourth.
And then one day I logged in and saw that all that was left was one bookmark per system. I quit the same day.

I was ready to pack it in at Christmas. Had a couple of weeks off, to make my mind up.
Came back joined a bunch of really enthusiastic lunatics and I'm hooked again. :)
Currently working on how build a Grand Prix track for frigates.

I think the next "Interest Booster" will be when Shiva finally hits TQ... Before Castor hit I was thinking about quitting and Castor totally changed my way of thinking. I think it really changed peoples attitude and made the game what we had all wanted.
Currently I'm kinda just marking time doing agent missions and the occasional hunting pack with my corp... but Shiva is what I'm looking forward too.
As everyone has said, just take a break Hanns... you will find that it helps a lot.
