When someone/something shoots me with a railgun it looks as if the charge is hitting me from two oposite directions. There is a sort of light that apears to go right through my ship before the actual charge splats against my hull.
Is this a bug/feature or some sort of sciencey thing to do with particles?
Anyone able to explain?

the visual effects eve uses are very basic, (over 10 year old techniqes)
Its for the same reasons that tachyon lasers appear to shoot backwards as well as forwards, it's more a bug than a feature, and hopefully it'll be changed with the next graphics upgrade that will update everything else (sky boxes, planets, gun effects etc)
Basically,hit effects(which are sprite based, not particles) get streched as the move along the axis between the zero (center) point of the turret firing, and your ship, the strech effect happens at the zero point of the sprite which is also where the hit effect also ends. As the sprite is streched both directions from this zero point and then contracts on a hit, when looking at your ship at the moment of impact it appears like your ship has been hit from both directions...
I personally can't wait for this to get fixed.

(i much prefer my music going in the background, and this is for most games actually, don't take it personally ccp )
