I just got a GeForce 6200 which supports the model 3 shaders, and it is in the list of video cards that are supported for the new trinity client yet after going into the client light effects are having some serious issues. They say pictures are worth a thousand words so....

Edited by: Corelin on 27/12/2007 23:11:26 Seconded. I've been having this since the second trinity patch (the minor one) at first the graphics were very pretty now... not so pretty. And my in-game petition is more than a week old
EDIT I'm using a GeForce GO (laptop version) of the same graphics card, with current drivers.
Thanks Z

Edited by: R3aliti on 28/12/2007 17:22:25 I also have this graphics card. (YES, latest drivers.) I was fixing the Black Boxes that should have been the station lights (internal) and ship trails by hitting escape and turning "Dither" on or off and escape back. This worked with first patch. Now with the second patch I have been unable to find a way to fix the Black Boxes. So I have just turned off the Premium graphics. Nice release, too bad I can't use it.

Posting the response to my petition, didn't help me but it might help you.
Thank you for contacting customer support, we apologize for the lateness of this reply.
This is a massreply to all players in the Technical queue under graphical problems, due to the amount of petitions we are forced to do this to get to all players as fast as possible.
Please read through the following suggestions to see if any of them can help solve your problem in any way, even if you have been contacted by us before.
Do note that the graphics update is not planned to be available for the Mac and Linux platforms until Q1 of 2008.
Please start by reading through the following links to see if they answer your question or have the solution to your problem.
<a href="http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/knownissues.asp?sid=486052358"> Known Issues </a> a good source to see what is know not to function correctly.

<a href="http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=409"> New display options in the Premium Graphics content </a>
This link has information about driver updates and what graphics cards can support the new premium client, it's strongly suggested you read through this thread thoroughly to see if you can indeed run the Premium client <a href="http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=417"> The Premium client and my computer </a>
</p>
1) Installation problems
If you are having problems installing the latest patch make sure you are applying it to the correct installation. It's not possible to apply a patch to a Singularity install in order to play on Tranquility.
If you are updating the classic client to a classic client use <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=&system=win&edition=classic"> this </a> link
If you are updating the classic client to a premoum client use <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/download/client/windows/upgrade.asp" this </a> link.
The Macintosh patch can be found <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=&system=mac&edition=classic"> here </a>
The Linuc patch can be found <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=&system=lin&edition=classic"> here </a>
The full build for the Classic and Premium clients can be found <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/download/windows.asp"> here </a>( Windows only )
The Full build for the Macintosh client can be found <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/download/client/mac/"> here </a>

and the rest
2) Many graphical glitches can be caused by a faulty files on your harddrive, thus it's suggested players clear their cache and settings files to see if that helps.
Graphical glitches such as artifacts and text corruption can also be caused by old or incorrect drivers. It's suggested you read the following knowledgebase article to update/install drivers <a href="http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=417"> The Premium client and my computer </a>
Exit the game and go to "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" if you are on Windows 2000/XP and "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE" on Windows Vista. In there, there are sub folders named settings and cache. Move those folders over to a safe location outside of the EVE directory (or just rename them). This resets EVE to its default settings as the game then regenerates the folder upon restart. This can fix many problems within the game. This also unfortunately clears out your bookmark folders (though the bookmarks themselves are perfectly safe), so if needed, you can try moving the \Settings subfolder of the original \cache folder back to the one in your EVE directory.
Do note that copying the settings folder or any of it's files back may cause your problems to resurface, this includes the prefs.ini file.
3) Portrait problems
There are a few portrait problems, especially with having the correct or any portrait on the forums. This is a problem the developers have known about for some time but haven't been able to completely fix. If your portrait is corrupt, that is eyes are popping out or parts are missing you have at some point selected "No depth buffer" in the graphics options, to solve this clear your cache folder as shown above. This will cause the portraits to be re-rendered and should be shown correctly.
4) There are a lot of known problems with ATI cards such as artifacts and other strange anomalies where normal graphics should be. This could be either due to driver problems or it is a problem with the EVE graphics so start with updating your drivers to see if that helps. It's also suggested you try different graphic settings both ingame and using the Catalyst utility. It will also help if you could send a detailed bug report if doing the above does not help. How to send a bug report can be found below.
5) If you have a mobile graphics card such as the Geforce Go cards and are trying to use the Premium client it is possible that you will suffer problems since many mobile graphics cards are stripped down and thus do not have the power to run the Premium client in all cases. Drivers for mobile cards are also not updated often and are therefore not always up to date with current DirectX releases and other graphical technologies.
If none of the above helps solve your problem please send our bug hunting and development team as a detailed report of this as you possibly can, our bug hunters and developers want to receive all reports of possible bugs to fix. You can submit a bug report under the Bug Reporting section on our homepage ( http://bugs.eve-online.com ). Be as detailed as you possibly can without making it to complex to understand.
For instructions on how to make a bug report, please check out the information available on our website: https://bugs.eve-online.com/help.asp

I think this is a case of a much too early release for this update......When you release a game atleast make sure it works first. is that too much to ask for??

The real problem is that it's impossible to test every possible hardware configuration prior to release. After release, if certain cards are reported to have problems then it's most likely they are not fully compatible with the software for some reason or other.
There's plenty of games out there that will only run with specific graphic cards and I can see the same will happen with EVE eventually.
