No, I'm more interested in ships which die more often and are easily replaceable, than those which survive a bit longer and take a lot longer to replace.
But I don't PvP anyway, so...

And yes, Ive had a abaddon fitted with all faction/officer mods back in the days. worth well over 4 billion in fittings alone.
So if you got the isk, why not put together a nice ship.
Ive done it and many others do. Its fun to see how good it acutally is when you tank X amounts of BSs without breaking a sweat.
PS: and if you shoot me now im 99% of the time in a t2 fitted geddon, so not much isk to make from my loot. Just incase you got any funky ideas  |

To pvp in? NO!
Especially with that setup. All it takes is 5 medium ECM drones, and you're stuck, out of the fight and dead.

While I agree with the setup, so long as your throwing money into a pit why not a Faction ECCM module? Should take sensor strength to above that of a Non ECCM standard BS and thus reduce the chance. A Golem as it stands by default has the same chance to be jammed as a cruiser, which is theoritically possible to perma jam with a racial jammer, a caldari ECM ship and all the upgrades for higher jam strength.
That being said, from my experience it would take 3 Hypnos Multi-specs to reliably jam a Golem permenantly given I'm sitting at a jam strength of about 6.5 with them. If you kicked it up to the 26 or whatever it could possibly be it would take five to keep it reliably jammed - basically using up an entire ECM ship's payload to keep it locked down. If I happened to have racials on, I'd probably be able to settle with 3 on the Golem.
At any rate, 5 ECM drones wouldn't absolutely kill the golem's ability to target - those things ARE pretty weak. 1.5 base jam strength works out to just over 10% chance to jam per drone or ~41% overall chance to jam (statistically speaking anyway) even without the upgrade.

I'm leaning toward no. I would not faction for (nor fly) a golem.
1) the Golem is already very expensive
2) the faction mods are very expensive
3) The ship still isn't immortal. Shoot it hard enough and it still explodes.
4) huge gaping vulnerability to EWAR (hint, look at the golem's sensor strength)
The golden rule of EVE still stands: Don't fly a ship you cannot afford to lose.
The corollary many veterans follow: Treat all your ships and implants as disposable.

I agree with all your points. I don't know why some people are willing to throw that kinda money into a hole when, if you're like me, the hole will inevitably be filled with wreckage eventually.
If I were to have a faction fitted Golem, a possibility that requires putting up well into the billion ISK mark and possibly beyond 2 billion depending on prices and whatnot, I would not risk it in any sort of even remotely fair PvP. I would sit in low-sec with a gang of buddies blasting mission runners. Even THEN I don't think you would need/want the faction gear because every so often people will get a kill in

well if you have the isk to do it I think its ok... thinking of pimping something myself now that I can afford it.
and I think I did the math and you could get a golem to tank like 8-9000 dps if you have enough cash with implants.... that is about 2k more then the state issue raven.
hadn't looked enough on the maurders to notice the low signal strength tho

I'm not convinced that a golem is as useless as everybody says. I will concede that it's missing 1 low slot, can ONLY carry 4 launchers, has much lower PG and CPU and has at least one required item (ECCM) for pvp. Can someone make it work with all those things going against it? Probably. But a regular raven is ever so much cheaper and easier to fit.

Lemme re-phrase.. I wouldn't PVP with that fit =)
As to your points on the ECM jamming strength, this is where EFT and Eve-Online are different. On sisi; I had one perma jammed for about 15 minutes while I killed his megathron buddy and worked him down to his hull (server was shutting down, and I only have level 1 in torpedos and level 3 in caldari battleship, lol). He couldn't target me at any point in the fight.
Was I lucky? Yes, no doubt. ECM is based on luck. But, I'm not in the business of trusting a 10-20 billion isk setup, on a 1 bill isk ship, to needing "luck" when it comes down to solid, "fair" pvp.
edited to add:
Another fight, I dueled a Golem with my Pilgrim setup (running T2 rigs and High grade slaves.).. On sisi, I can tank 2 cerberuses, a deimos, an ishtar, an interceptor, and a sabre (i've done it). This golem 1 shot me into hull.
