Currently I am training towards flying the Hulk, which I have about 2 weeks remaining on. I have outlined a plan for myself afterwards to get the attributes up as high as I can so to make training other skills faster.
The $500M for all level 5 implants could be made at least partially during the time it will take to train Cybernetics IV, which like Astrogeology IV is a rank 3 skill (about 17 days to train). I could make the money with reasonable ease once I fly the Hulk.
Is it worth it to then train all of the learning skills to 5 as well? Is it correct that having the implants that affect the learning skills' attributes will also make those learn faster as well?

My advice would be that you buy a +3 implant for intelligence when training towards cybernetics 5. The +3 only requires cybernetics level 1.
The implants will affect all skill training speed, including learning skills. I would say train the rank 1 learning skills to 4 or 5(myself I did them to 4, except learning which I'm taking to 5), and the advanced learning skils to level 4(level 5 takes to long time to be worth it).

cybernetics 5 for +5 attrib implants is a waste - think bigger.
cybernetics 5 for mindlinks, omegas, and some speciality implants can make you many billions of isk and/or uber pwnage
all the learning skills to 5 pay off in something like 3.5 years. There are threads on that around here somewhere. Cya in 2011 hehe

Cybernetics to 5 for 5+ implants is very worth it imo. Its 14 days training for +1 in every stat, rather than 70 days for the same thing with the adv learning skills. You also get to use the other set implants and, with the recent crash in 5+ implant prices (70m for each one) its well worth it.

I find it worth training to use +5. I don't really care of how long it takes to pay, because I can see the difference right away as the implants are in place :)

According to my training plan for one of my characters, the level 5 on learning skills pays off in about 10-13 months and +5 implants vs +4's pay off in about about a year's time too.
First of all think if you're going to play EVE this long. No reason to train these skills if you're going to quit in 6 months - you'd be better off training something more functional. Second if you are staying this long make a skill plan for a bit over 1 year's time and see how those extra points in attributes help you out. You can use EVEMon to plug in different sets of implants and you can also modify your xml input file to make it appear as if you trained lvl 5 on those learning skills already. Then see when the break even point is (point where your plan takes same length of time to train as plan that includes all those implants and skills).

The +5 implants are well worth it IMO. I have been playing for over 4 years now and the difference in training time for those Rank 10+ skills to level 5 is amazing just for that +1 attribute. Also, remember you get half for secondary attribute. So in reality you are making out +1.5 from lvl 5.
It's up to you if you want to do it. I am glad that I did it right at the beginning since I have staed with this game for so long. ______________________

Edited by: Jameroz on 31/12/2007 23:52:14 1 attribute point means 1 skill point per minute. Full +5 set means you get 1 point for primary and half point for secondary attribute. With Learning 5 giving 10% bonus you get 1.65 sp per minute more which equals to 867240 sp per year. Training Cybernetics from 4 to 5 is 632235 skill points. But unlike the skills you have to have the implants plugged in your head all the time. So if you manage to stay with your +5 implants for a year ... but of course there are other implants that require the skill too.
