So my omen got killed by warp disrupting webbifying NPCS today on a agent level 3 rat kill mission and now I just want to high security mine. I came back to the game a week ago after not playing for 9 months. I have never really mined except for corp mining once or twice back in the day so can you give me some tips on what to mine, where to do it and how much I can make? I am hoping to make 500k an our or better. I bought 4 Miner 2's and basic expanders for my omen, and have access to corp indy. Any decent places to mine around Amarr space? thanks.

Roughly ore value can be determined alphabetically. Starting at "A" for Arkanor (most valuable) down to "V" for Veldspar (least valuable). There are one or two exceptions but that holds true enough to be a good rule of thumb.
As to where you have to find your own spots. Stick to 0.5 or higher if you do not want to be concerned about player pirates attacking you. Of course the lower the sec of a system is the better the ore value usually is. More risk=greater gains.
NPC rats will harrass you so if you are soloing be sure to have a way to fight back successfully against them by yourself.
When you get your ore back and are ready to reprocess have someone with a very good Refine skill (8, 9 or 10) do it for you if you do not have it that high. You'll get a lot more minerals that way.
I'm just guessing because it has been awhile but I think with 4-Miner-IIs you had best be mining Omber or Kernite or better to make 500k per hour. Again...I just pulled that out of my backside from a distant memory. Could be (probably am) wrong.

I used to mine a lot in an Omen. It's a rather under-appreciated ship... lots of turrets, good cargo, and even a drone bay. I'd recommend loading up on scout drones for protection, equipping a shield booster, and heading out to 0.5-0.6 space. You can mine Omber there and the scout drones should deal with NPCs. If you don't see any Omber, try another region or go with Pyro or Plag. Not every region has every ore and I've never mined in Amarr space so I'm not sure what they have...
Oh, I've heard Pyreite is pretty valuable is some regions right now, so you might want to dig for something that contains Pyre.

Here are the major rules of 0.0 mining.
1. Fit Warp Core Stabs (at least 2) 2. If you find a belt empty of rats and start mining please remember to line up on a planet or station or safe point so that you can jump out if the rats spawn on you. 3. Have a MWD set to manual.... when the rats spawn hit it once and then click the warp to your safe point. By the time the MWD finishes its run you will be up to warp out speed.
Simple as that. Nothing fancy... -------------------------------------------
