hi.
i was thinking going to 0.0 for ratting in thorax, so i'm wondering what should i fit on it.
also if there is a better t1 cruiser for this job it would be nice of you to tell me which one.(i can only use gallente and minmatar)

If you do insist on ratting in 0.0 in a cruiser, I would recommend the Vexor with this build.
2x medium NOS
Salvager, tractor
Medium blaster or something
MWD
Web
Cap recharger II
MAR II
DCU II
2x T2 armor hards
T2 medium drones
However, it would be much easier if you flew a battlecruiser. I fly a T1-fitted Drake, and it has solod all normal 0.0 spawns even with my poor shield/missile skills.

rax is a fun ship to 0.0 rat in, just armor the crap outta it. One 1600mm rolled tungston and a few armor rigs gives u plenty of armor hps to play with just dont forget the mwd or not only will u have the armor hps of a battleship but u'll move like one to.

1. Risk? RISK? There's 0 risk to ratting in 0.0 as long as you aren't prone to alt-tabbing and posting on the forums while ratting as I am. The only risk is getting to the location you wish to rat in. If you don't have a second account place a laptop to your right, sign up for a trial account and now you have a free scout to use. There you go zero risk.
2. BS will kill much faster than the t1 cruiser since the t1 cruiser is going to be fitted for tank not gank. BS is what 100M. Cruiser is what 5M? If your BS stays alive for 3 days you've more than made up your isk in kill time.
3. If you encounter an officer spawn I'm pretty sure you're going to want to kill it not run from it.

Rax has got a better tank. Ratting in a Vexor and Thorax for Sansha rats I could definitely tank and kill bigger nastier spanws in a Rax. The microwarpdrive bonus on rax is also very nice. You mwd to a battleship and shoot the **** out of it with your blasters while working on frigates and cruisers with your 5 hammerheads. When you get jumped in a belt you just mwd out of their disruptor range and warp out. It works very nicely.
I was using 4 heavy turrets (ions/neutrons whatever you got grid for), one nos (but i read nos now sucks for NPCing after the nerf), 10mn mwd, two capacitor rechargers, armor repper II, in remaining low a mix of hardeners and membranes for NPC specific damage. No plate because it would just slow you down. When in belt with battleships and frigates, approach one bs on mwd to 500m and start orbiting it and shooting and kill off frigs with drones. When in belt with cruisers and battleships, start approaching cruisers and kill them off first with your guns and drones (because those thing really hurt, unlike frigates or battleships).
When my tanking and damage skills got better i used 4 guns, cloaking device for hanging in a safespot afk while some silly pirates would be looking for me in a system, 10mn mwd, 2 cap rechargers, armor repper II, NPC specific hardeners and membranes, capacitor power relay.
Sansha and Blood Raiders are the best rats for ratting in Thorax. If you rat for Angels better use a shield-tanking cruiser.

Best t1 cruiser for 0.0 ratting imo..
High: blaster
Med: ab, web and a CR you dont need a MWD to speed tank Bs rats..
Low: rep, x2 active hardeners, cpr, mag stab.

I use a Thorax for ratting in 0.0. Granted, a BS would be faster/better, but I do not have one yet. The only thing I have really noticed with the Thorax is that I need to pick which spawns to go after (some are a wee bit tough). I have seen, however, that once I close on the rats, they are going down. As long as I survive the approach I almost never take damage while in close orbit. Now, damage taken while closing is a whole different story (training Hull Upgrades to lvl 4 right now...).
I would recommend that you just give it a try with a few different setups and see what works for you. If the fight starts to take a bad turn for you just warp off and re-think your approach. One way or another, a Thorax will work just fine. It may not be ideal, but it does work.
