Hello all,
this is my first post so take it easy with me just some ideas i've been playing around with for some time.
I would like to suggest makin school stations something special, apart from the other corporate stations.
It would be really a cool feature imho if I could subscribe to a school with my character, for a costly fee depending on my corp, and faction standings. The fee also increases according to the skill points a player already has.
You visit the "School" Station Service and choose quality (another price factor) and duration. The character now receives additional points to 2 attributes (depending on what type of school it is), but only as long as he is docked at the station. Points should be 1-5 according to the quality of the school.
(Granted points should be shown in the *augmentations* tab in the char sheet, on a separate category called "effects".)
(Hey what about reserving level 5 schools to a faction standing of 10.0?)
(Maybe the char shouldn't be able to undock during his training time?)
With regards, Yue Rubens - CEO of Fnord Works Corporation

nice
edit: i don't really like the standing thing: it's for carebear and empire people only, but i think it is actually a great idea

a) if you are not able to do anything (=no undocking) ... its just perfect for someone who wants to raise an alt (to sell or use)
b) if it includes a fee (based on whatever) it will always benefit those the most, that have enough money to spend (isk or 'real' money)
c) if you include standings, grinding standings to that point will be as 'obligatory' as learning skills are now ... preventing some players from doing what they really want.
if you 'just' want something to shorten training time because of increased availability of skills/skillpoints - make it without fee/standing ... everyone can use them right from the start (old and new players, rich and poor ones, 'hardcore' and casual ones)

a) they can already do it.
b) it's the same for the implants, remove them from the game then (but it's the same for a lot of more thing: harwiring, boosters, rigs... basically anything, more money you got, more good stuff you can buy).
c) agreed.
the final statement: agreed.

even if u agreed already i want to add something
ad a) yes, they can do it already, but the school idea without undocking would make it perfekt for them, whereas others could use it only partial, thus increasing the difference
ad b) yes, money makes a difference now too, but attribute wise there are only up to +5 implants, and the price of +4 implants is very moderate already. rigs, hardwirings do not increase attributes, so they dont help to train faster. adding any moneybased attribute enhancing items/mechanics will only increase the skillpoint gap between those that can affort it and those that cant.
anyways, i am glad u agree :)

Better add missions and/or objectives. I sure as hell don't want to sit my butt in a station all day just to learn a specific trade, skill, or umm whatever they call it 'specialized' training.
Nice idea though ;-). Pain in the butt to get training done in a decent time anymore ;-(. Most high end skills take fooorreevveerrr to train. Maybe that's one of the reasons I've stuck with the game.
And if you make this for high sec, why not low sec too ? Something like this should be universal for everyone.

Yes I agree, makin this some kind of agent reward could be really interesting. As to the whole "only empire / carebear" thing, why not make it possible for 0.0 Outposts to turn into a school - the base would then automatically seed all basic skills, and receive a "learning agent". This change would require an extension to be bought and brought online...
