Have been shooting through the roof price wise. What's going on? Is it the low sec NPC changes making the risk too high vs the reward for mining the stuff?
Is it price fixing and gouging by the large corps/alliances?
Is it the wars making shipping problematic?
Megacyte, once 4k, has jumped to 9-11k a pop in a very short time. Zydrine has been going up as well. Something needs to be done. This kind of pricing will effectively shut down smaller corps, or at the very least severely hamper their opperations and growth.
Thoughts? Solutions? Explainations? ...anyone?

Grid mining is no longer. Large war in CA going on, SA, CFS sometimes. Alot of ships are lost and need to be replaced.
That war causes the absence of a fleet to mine the minerals = Less megacyte going into the world of eve = more demand thus higher prices.
Personally i don't give a damn about smaller corps, EVE is heading into specialism and smaller corps who cannot adjust to that extinct or are absorbed by larger ones. That is what i thought EVE to become, when joining the game. - - -

'tis not the first time that the prices for megacyte and zydrine rise that high. The large amount of these minerals needed for battleship production and the changed conditions for mining in deep space are the reasons. Solutions? Team up, find a spot to mine it. ____________________________________________________

Reasons are simple:
1. roids growth slowly after being mined 2. roids doesn't respawn if they are mined out to 0
add 1, if I mean slowly it's really slow less than 100 per day if you are lucky. In bad days grow is less than 50 per arkonor roid
add 2, even scordite or veldspar rock in 0.0 doesn't respawn if is mined out to zero.
Take clue and you will find that even 20k per megacyte or 10k per zydrine isn't final price. Price could go down only if next big patch will include new seeding for belts.

Its not unusual - the prices depend on the cycles in 0.0. A few weeks ago - grid mining and a lack of wars *due in part to people going after the new stations* meant 0.0 space was open for all. With supply exceeding demand the prices dropped on most things. Now with the grid mining gone, major wars in Curse, Stain and increased piracy in CFS three of the major regions have seen production fall, more ships have been destroyed - demand is beginning to exceed supply. With the changes to mining coming in - expect to start seeing low end demand also picking up (unless the new players get a chance to mine and sell thier wares)
Its still only a basic economy - but its getting better as time goes on.

So basically it's from two factors then
1) Lots of large wars in 0.0 space.
2) roids don't regrow/regrow fast enough?

What changes to mining to come?
Unless you're talking about the removal of secure cans...

Exactly. Mega and zyd are the rarer minerals and harder to get than most so they are much easily affected by changes in supply and demand on the market.
I wish people would stop complaining like its a bug and realise its part of the dynamic eve market. Many of us saw this coming and bought up stocks of cheap mega and zyd and can now start selling it back at higher prices as it goes up.
