I just started EVE online, and I've put about 5-10 hours into missions for agents. Should I continue to progress and gain experience and skills before joining up somewhere, or would it be reasonable to join a Corp right away?
Also, is there anyway to quickly browse Corps to get a feel for what would be right for me?

You should probably find a corp as soon as you find a good one that's right for you - but don't be rushed into joining the first one that comes along because you feel you must be in a player corp to enjoy the game. A good corp will provide friends, advice, teammates for mining/mission ops, possibly ship reimbursement/free T1 mods, etc. (with approximately that level of importance in my view). A bad corp will provide you with none of the above, so take your time when choosing at get it right first time.
As for actually finding said corp... you can have a look at the Corp recruitement board on this forum, scanning through the corporate posts there and possibly putting your own "wanted" ad if you fancy it. There is the recruitment channel ingame, though that tends to be a real pain to follow. There are also (following Trinity) in-game recruitment adverts.
I've found that most corps have a public channel where you can spend a little time hanging around with the members and getting a feel of what they are like, and what the group dynamic is like. Also, most corps will have a dedicated recruitment officer who will talk with you about your goals and answer any questions you might have about the corp. Hopefully after going through both these channels you will have a reasonable feel about the corp (and its most important part, its members) and whether it's the right place for you or not.

Yes, that's what I was referring to as the post-Trinity in game adverts. I probably should have linked to the Dev blog about it though.

IMO, I think it would be good to find what you want to do in Eve, be it mining, missions, industrial...etc. Once you find a career path, or multiple ones, then you can find a corp that fits your path(s).

Edited by: G Viking on 30/12/2007 18:12:49 I've been in EVE for almost a month now. Since I'm quite busy in RL I can only spend an hour per day with the game. I had offers from many corps to far. I turned them down because I would have had to move from high-sec to a lowsec (0.3 - 0.4) system. My last excursion into a 0.4 system with my Bestower almost ended with a desaster with 5 PvP pirates waiting at the jumpgate. Since I was using the autopilot I finished warping quite a distance away from the gate. Turning off the autopilot and switching on the AB and jumping saved me from the attack. I understand why most corps have the headquarters close to the low-sec but I think its wrong to lure noobs into these areas.
