I'm sorry, I know this have been discussed many times. BUT I'm waiting to log in Jita for about 20 minutes. I've bought shtz, I've bough ships, my corp is prepareing an important op and I'm banned from playing for a whole hour by now(including the laggy flyin around Jita). And that's at least the third time. Finaly, after 30 min of wating I log in. Can't dock because of lag, can't open SHIPS menu, can't open Assets, can't open ITEMS. I want my stuff and to get the hell out this cursed plase, named Jita, please.(And the DT comes... no playing for today...) There must be somthing to be done, that's just ridiculous!

I have friends who have had the same problem. They ended up waiting for the daily server downtime to end and they could log in and get their stuff. If you get your stuff out, stay out of Jita. I don't understand why people tempt fate by going to Jita. There is a whole unerverse out there!

I agree. I can NOT understand why CCP is trying to sell a One-Universe concept when the server can barely handle 35000 active players....many of them in Jita!!! I can't even begin to picture the lag horror if eve manages to snag a million subscribers..
imagine having to wait 10 seconds for your mouse click to register - whether its in PvP battles or for salvaging (my god..salvaging in Jita!!! I had an msn which took me 4 hours because every salvage took me over 10 minutes..and this is when im next to the salvage..no tractor beam or any of that ****!!)
BTW..I got booted OUT of the game with an ominous "Message Not Found" popup in Jita...been trying to log back in for the past hour!!

That really nice point but Jita has always been a mass market hub. Been playing since 04 and yes even then it was the main hub. So no, its just not buy your stuff else where, Jita needs fixed. People might as well stop complaining about lag in fleet battles, and lag kills. Same ****, but hay the game looks pretty.

The number of Jita visitors kinda regulates itself:
more lag -> less visitors less visitors -> less lag less lag -> more visitors more visitors -> more lag ...
So there will always be an intrinsic upper limit for the system's visitor count that is determined by overall performance outcome. No way and no need to do anything against it.
- You can't increase performance to infinity. - If you put an artifical upper limit you still have an upper limit.
So just live with it.

So CCP has a lot of options available to them: 1. They can have menu choice that comes up when you first attempt to warp into the system a. Passing thru to the next system? Then the appropriate time to warp across Jita to the appropriate gate is levied and then you appear on the other side of said gate. b. Visting station xxxx? Appropriate time to warp to said station and you appear in dock and then you get the menu choice again when you undock. c. Want to visit asteroid belts? Sorry due to unknown forces of cosmetic disturbances we can not allow you for your safety. d. Want to explore inside Jita system? That will cost a tax of $$$ isk and the waiting time to get thru customs is ...
They can limit the number of people in the area as well
To say people have to live with it is, in my opinion, being lazy and not willing to look at changes. Adapt, overcome, grow or sit back and fade away.

A few thoughts on your ideas:
a) Players can plan their routes more carefully, like you said: "don't be lazy, adapt, overcome"
b) This will without a doubt increase performance, but I don't think that this is EVE spirit: directly jumping into a station from outside the system - and - most folks will probably hit b) and you'll surely end up with a lag boundary again.
c) This could decrease the number of visitors, but not much most likely.
d) That's a GREAT idea! "Lag tax", dynamically increasing, I like it :)
Limit the number of people in the area? No. Then peeps will sit outsite the Urlen gate, waiting, living with it. That's the point I wanted to make in the above post.

Seriously a Jita loop would work wonders. How many caldari pilots have had a storyline that requires, going to a system next door to jita?
Goes something like this, warping, jumping, warping, jumping, STUCK, send in petition explaining what you are doing, where you have to go, wait, wait some more, GM moves you to the system before jita where you got stuck in first place, Petition again, and dream about beating said GM with a trout while you wait again.
Sooner or later you end up completing your mission and you run away as fast as possible.
Possible solutions?
AVOID JITA option on autopilot (90%+ of people will not manually plan their routes) so unless someone has biz in jita server load and lag is reduced.
Loop Gates, Much like a highway loop, it avoids the city/jita and get you to the other side without going into the city/jita. again unless someone has biz in jita server load and lag is again reduced.
Pulling stuff out of jita will not help people will just move to another central system, so its pretty much a fact of life. But something really needs done to improve the situation. Stay Chilly & Watch Your Six!

Forgive me if I sound ignorant here, but isn't the main problem that there is no good way to promote all the things one wants to sell all over the universe??
Wouldn't it then be better to maybe implement some sort of intergalactical market?? And maybe make sure that everyone is using a global trade-channel that people can promote their contracts in??
If their is no need to go to Jita people wont and the lag will go down.

Jita is like a retail store in the US on the day after Thanksgiving or on Christmas Eve. It is wall to wall with people who have no one to blame for being there other than themselves. If there is something you want there place a buy order at one of the systems near it for enough of a markup and you'll get someone to bring it to your station of choice. If you want to sell something just put it up nearby at enough of a discount and you'll get someone who will gladly buy it and then waste their own time and patience fighting with Jita traffic.
People are too impatient to realize that you don't have to only look at other people's sell orders if you want something. Make a tempting buy order and you'll be amazed at how fast it gets filled.

Lag in Jita has disrupted a L1 kill mission into jita pirate hunting. EVE client has crashed 2 twice already. I do not mind the agressive marketing that CCP does to get subscribers back or get new subscribers but this Jita Lag, the EUni War Lag is not helping matters. CCP stands to lose more subscribers if they do not take the time to fix some of the lag problems in JITA.
A possible solution would be to make the JITA TRADE HUB a non pvp zone.

The lag in jita has always been a problem. One that ccp did not create. The players have created it into a market hub that everyone goes too.
When you get 1000+ players in one place loading the same system/station and the same market. Then the players all moving around and then changing ships adding mods. Lag is not suprising even with the best servers.
While some changes to the system have helped. Like removing the ore and agents. The systems around need a bypass so that players can avoid it.
For the time being my advice is never log in jita and if your stuck because you loged in jita then wait until monday morning. 5am everyone getting ready for work/school. Less players less lag equals you can get out.
An idea that maybe no thinks of is to try another market hub. A good one amarr the only diffrence is it has less people and less lag.
