Terail Zoqial	Posted - 2007.12.30 20:36:00 - [1] A part of me really wants one, I have the spare isk and can probably get one pretty damn cheap from work , yet there is also a side of me which says "meh, what's the point, how good can it be" Last console I bought was a dreamcast and my most reccent console is an xbox. What is so sassy and funky about the 360? I'm currently enamoured by the classics range, I don't buy ú40 games. Ever. Plus there seem to be a lot of good games heading it's way. Can anyone rant in joy about their 360, or just give some feedback. Ta Not intrested in a PS3, just on the off chance someone suggests

If you have a freind with one, ask to borrow it and rent the games, costs ú5 for a month of xbox live and you could just get a gold trial from the website. If you don't have a freind with one - then you could buy one, decide it would have been better to get a poo perhaps and take it back claiming your child wanted a Wii or something and it is essentialy new so can you get an exchange. I love my Xbox 360 mainly for driving games, as I like to play them from the comfort of my armchair rather than on a PC. Oblivion on the 360 was the single game I have played for more hours than all other games added together apart from Eve. If you want it, get it. No point in pansying about!

Avery Fatwallet	Posted - 2007.12.30 21:30:00 - [5] ill probably have to duck for cover soon, but im going out on a limb saying if your pc isnt totally last decade, save the money for something else, like booze and hookers. i thought about it a lot lately, and coincidentally i now have an old pc hooked up to the tv set. i use it to play console style games. well... the old pro-console argument "i just want to put in a disc and play right away!" doesnt hold its ground anymore. i mean.... ima lazy bum. i have to get up to CHANGE discs if im bored with a game. my old pc is a lot better! if i want to change stuff i just have to alttabdoubleclick in the worst case. and once its set up its stable as it can be. to me, all the xboxes are just pcs with lousy ventilation and sucky controls.

The controls are a bit annoying in some games, but for other games a controller is just nicer. but my pc is last decade, and I'm a student, and poor, so an xbox 360 is a pretty cheap alternative to still playing decent looking (and so new)games. Just how I see things anyway. To the OP: hell, if you get one cheap, just get one, not like they cost a whole lot, the few 'exclusive' games you get to play will be worth it (or if they aren't exclusive, you don't have to wait). Mass effect is one good reason to get one .

Check with xbox.,com to see if you Xbox games are compatiable with the 360. Most play well, but for me one game's downloadable content for the Xbox did not work well when played in the 360. Also consider the arcade games available for the Xbox. I think Halo (entire game) is downloadable with some MS points. The only thing I use the Xbox 360 for is multiplayer games. The Xbox Live interface is very good for that. Sometimes you have to play single player campaigns to get goodies for the multiplayer games. The Xbox 360 is not just a game console anymore - you can use it for DVD's, and music playing like the Xbox, but better. And there is some way to transfer content from the pc to the Xbox 360 but check the site for that, it can be integrated with a Media PC, or some sort of accessory is required if not - but double check. It also integrates with MSN Messenger. I don't use that stuff, just games. You can use the MS points you pay for - to download movies nd TV epidosdes - not sure how recent they can get. Not many games upcoming soon, most of the recent games were released from August on (and there were alot of good titles). Winter is always a dry spell for games. I like the 360 for some games because of the sheer amount of explosions and noise it makes. Having a 5.1 sound system helps (I got my 100 watt dolby digital 5.1 at Walmart for $60). Have been playing alot of very close team objective games in Call of Duty 4. Project Gotham Racing is just a great time killer game, just hop in and race a few games. I can't say the game play has changed alot - but there is a striking difference in sound, graphics and things that explode in game like Rainbow Six from the Xbox to the 360. If your dorm room needs a space heater - get either a 360 of the PS3.

Seriously don't waste your money. Because to keep up with games one has to keep upgrading their computer system, with console games its cheaper, and simpler. I can use a 4 -6 year old laptop for all my personal and business needs. But it won't run any of the new games coming out. The console games create an entire industry focused on producing games for one set of system requirements for several years at a time.

While it's great that many (not all!) games come out on both X360 and PC, a lot of them require a beefy PC to play at the level they play on the 360. Case in point: Oblivion. To play on 'average' settings back when it came out it required a pc that would have cost 800 bucks as a whole, minimum. now it's probably closer to 500 because of new hardware costing more and depressing the prices of old stuff, and playing at max still takes a pricey machine. The same goes for many of the games. Personally I like PC better, if you could, try to save up, I'm fixing to build a PC that will cost between $1K and 1200 and is basically able to play all games ('cept maybe crysis) on medium to maximum settings. Unfortunately, as you said, you are not necessarily in such a position. The 360 can also be used to play music, DVDs, etc. Which is especially good when you connect your PC up via a LAN, you can share your music to the xbox and even play your own music in game. Some of the great games out there for 360: Call Of Duty 4 Halo 3 (I'm no Halo fan, but hey, if ya like Halo, it's there) Oblivion (Morrowind was better, I just went back to it after playing Oblivion for a week, but it is kind of a fun hacknslash RPG) The Orange Box (HL2, HL2:EP1 & 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2 (not sure if all those games are on the 360 version of the Orange Box)) Mass Effect (Awesome Game if you like Kotor or similar RPGs) Assassin's Creed (not quite as good as it could have been, but it IS like prince of persia in a mostly wide open game world). Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is kind of fun if you can ignore the 'ricer' car style and silly storyline and cinematics. Project Gotham Racing 4 is, well, PGR. It's fun as always. Can't think of any more right now, but that there is a good sized list that will keep ya busy for awhile. ------ It's a basic truth of the human condition that everybody lies. I got a PS3 over a 360 merely because of GT5, White Knight, and the fact that a friend already had a 360.
