Imagine, a ship with a giant focusing lens, able to focus the fire of 4 capital lasers into 1 giant laser beam.
It would give an extra damage modifier so that the damage of the giant beam is greater than the 4 beams together.
The same would go for hybrid, projectile and missiles. Here they would put the module Magnetic Accelerator on (hybrids n projectiles) and another one for missiles (havent come up with a good one yet).
They would require the Dreadnought skill at 3 or 4. The modules combining fire, would require a skill named Fire Linking.
Maybe it would be an idea to have 2 modules, one to combine the fire and give it greater firepower (less tracking, only usuable vs structures) and another one to boost tracking (and reduce damage) so that dreads could be useful vs battleships.
Maybe the 2nd one is overpowered, but it's mostly the 1st idea that I'm thrilled about.
Tankwise the ship should be less than a dread but a bit more than a bs. It's has no further weapons slots than the one for the focusing module.
What do you guys think (besides it needes more shaping)?

I think instead we should just release Tech-2 dreadnoughts. All this ship would be is some souped-up ship with a crappy tank. But what if you went Tech-2? Amarr could have a Khanid ship, with citadels and lasers, or maybe Carthum with improved lasers in general; Caldari could get a boat that uses both missiles and hybrids; Gallente could use hybrids; Minmatar already use missiles and projectiles..so better tank, maybe.
Personally I always thought some sort of 'artillery' function on a Dreadnought would be fun. Something where you could park dreadnoughts far off a gate, say, 1000 km, off-grid, and then targets would appear for them if friendlies in gang used target painters. Some 'artillery' module could give them long-range, super-low tracking. (Obviously this messes with the current game programming a bit, but hey, it could be fun. Risky for the dreads, too, if the gatecamp fails, or whatever you're trying to protect.)

Yep, exactly like that. 4 Beams focues into one giant siege laser.

Auxiliary Dreadnaughts sound like they should mount things like mobile POS shields or the like but honestly I'd prefer such a gameplay addition to be a module mounted to existing particle ships.
