I think EVE could benefit if the rewards for skill training were a little more visceral than the current certificate system.
What I mean is that when the criteria for a certificate are met, there is little enduring reward for the player other than the use of the requisite skills. For this, something as simple as an article of clothing would work.
Here is an example of what I am suggesting.
Certificate Earned Reward
Minmatar Military - Soldier (Basic): Republic Fleet Duty Boots Minmatar Military - Soldier (Standard): Republic Fleet Combat Slacks Minmatar Military - Soldier (Improved): Republic Fleet Overcoat Minmatar Military - Soldier (Elite): Republic Fleet Tactical Headgear
In this way, if you complete all the certificates, you have a unique way to show off that accomplishment in the form of an avatar that looks like... an Elite Minmatar Soldier.
The avatars are getting more face time with the Captain's Quarters. I like the idea of the Noble Exchange as a way to brazenly declare affluence (Monocles are immediate indicators of wealth to me). Why not reward the pilots who excel at other aspects of the game?
I think this idea could also be used at some point to even add exclusive items to the Captain's Quarters, such as gifts from factions with a standing of 10 ("Thanks for the Golden Omber Asteroid Model, Minmatar Mining Corp!").
I understand these rewards will have little impact outside the station, but I think it would add more of a goal to obtaining the certificates, and help flesh out the Captain's Quarters feature. What do you think? |

As long as this pulls no resources from FiS developement, I have no issues with this. |

Anything that helps toons seem more unique. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

+1 to this, and to the CQ gifts idea. Surely a little Hurricane that flies around my CQ isn't too much to ask for in exchange for all those missions? :) Let's...just assume there's some kind of signature here, 'k? ... ... OH WAIT. Jace Errata on Twitter |

Thanks for all the support on the idea. There are literally endless possibilities here - I hope the guys at CCP think this idea has merit as well. =D |

Like it... liked it :) +1 maybe unlock more options on the avatar customization screen?
Edit...
Maybe have it so that if these toons invite new ones the new guys get extra stuff too? (maybe I have had too many coffees) |

I don't show my certificates because it gives too much info away as to what skills I know. For example, I don't want somebody to tell just by looking that I got into a drake 5 minutes ago and don't know much about it. Or, I don't want them to know that I'm fantastic with an ishtar because I've trained Gallente from day 1. |

Only make your certificates public once you have alot of combat-related skills trained. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

OR keep those certs private, and leave the industry certs public...
these reactions are always priceless:

Well, just because you unlocked the reward outfit does not mean you need to re-customize the character right away. I hide all my combat-related certs also, but the CQ rewards are essentially always hidden. Nobody can tell just by looking at you that you have a flashy, shiny, Carrier 5 reward floating around your CQ. It's for you to enjoy when not using said carrier. |

I really like this idea but I think it should be something more along the lines of military style ribbons that could be worn on the chest or the upper/lower arm. Maybe even tatoos for the minmatar avatars. Instead of some boots/shirt or something. These would be optional of course. |

I think that would be a good idea for military career certificates, but for the industry and exploration it might not make so much sense... Also, it is customary to affix such decorations to a uniform - so I think there would still have to be some way of obtaining one. |

Rewards for certificates would be cool, but what about medal displays? This would definitely be abused as some ceo gives himself 50 medals saying he is god, but what the heck, a pin medals limit? |
