its a gang ship so id fit it like this (tho my alt can only fly the sin :( )
5x cruise t2, cloak, covert portal gen
DG xl booster, dg amp, 2x CN invul, cap inj t2, 3x jammers
2x distortion amp, 1x bvu, named dcu
2x cap rigs (that give more cap... coulnt think anything better... ofc some shield rigs are cool too.. like em resist and so on)
few drones.
ok dps... ok tank... ok jamming whit good skills :) ---------------------------------- Seems that there's a new game that seems to be very popular whit whiners these days. Its called EFT Online.

Well my main still cant fly the ship so ;) Isnt it safer to get rid of the amp and the injector and insert 2 more jammers? That way you'll maybe jam another ship so you wont need the tank?

I have been playing all morning with setups on it and I think it sucks bigtime, cant say it otherwise. Base shield hp is way to low ( recharge of shields is just a joke). You miss a jamm cycle and you lose your 600 mill ship very, very fast. You better of using a scorp, that does not hurt so much in your wallet.
The only reason I can find is that it can fitt a covert portal generator.

What about ratting?
you can jump to a nice sector instantly... you obviously always have a cloak... you are fast(er) when you are cloaked...
But will it be able to take on 3x 1.8mil BS?

all the points will work.. except the first one... you need cyno to jump like that.. or you have to use gates :P
unless you find someone whit cyno skill lvl 5 and a covert cyno.. you can still be seen on the map (cynos show up) ---------------------------------- Seems that there's a new game that seems to be very popular whit whiners these days. Its called EFT Online.

That in combination with a tackler? Why the MWD than? :). Your cruises wont get out of range right? Or will the jammers? No experience with those...

huoh, i guess you dont know much about pvp. MWD is a must have on any ship. What happens if you get caught inside a bubble? When you run out of fuel and need to start using stargates? Mwd can and will save your life when used correctly. yarr |

You've all got it wrong.
The best way to use a Widow is to fit Siege Launcher IIs with Rage torps in the highs. Then, in your mid slots, you want to fit ecm bursts!
The tactics involved would be to creep up on the person and let proximity decloak you. Flip the switches for the ecm bursts while you target lock for torps and tackle.

No, you failed.
A while ago they nerfed ecm bursts. You can only use 1 ecmburst at a time. Besides that, ecm bonusses on a ship dont involve ecm burst. Nice hamster! - Mindstar Thanks! We wont touch this sig! - Cortes I lied - Cortes LIAR! |

Fine then, one ecm burst, one each racial. sensor booster II w/ res script, 2x warp scrambler II's Lows can be signal distortion amp IIs, and you can have particle dispersion augmentors in the rig slots. Yes, I am aware of the stacking penalties and I don't care. It's still the best way to use the Widow in my opinion.

I wll try this setup But got some question:
Still improving jamming skills but what is the jamming range, as you dont get a range bonus on the widow as you got on the rook or blackbird for example. What is locking time with the cloak, as far I saw I got an scan resolution of 75, I guess with such a long lock time i will be dead befroe I can start jamming with the low shield hp and tank depends on jamming? Is it worth to use it with cloak then?

Haven't flown one of these yet, but from my experience with a Scorp, personally I would always have a shield booster or an armor rep fitted (If you are going to at anything but extreme range). Yes, the jammers act as as a tank. But eventually you will miss a jam, and you want the booster to repair before you miss a second time.

your jamming optimal should be around 75-80km. So basically you will stay at 70km from your targets. Thats why poly rigs and mwd is useful. You can easily keep your distance vs main targets. If **** hits the fan you can always cloak or warp out. Also if you get bubbled you can mwd and warp out while jamming small ships. Dont forget that black ops have really nice small agility compared to other BS-s. Sens booster is loaded with lock speed script. Imo tanking is not an option when you cant go for max tank. Some half ass tank isnt going to save you anyway. And you wont be dead before you can start jamming for the simple reason that you are cloaked while looking for your targets. Lets tankers/gankers get their attention first, after all its their job :) yarr |

5x Siege II, Improved Cloak, Covert Jump Bridge
100MN MWD II, Web II, Warp Disrupter II, 5x Multi II
2x SDAII, 2x BCU II
Still havent decided what the best rigs would be,
800 odd DPS with drones and with good skills SHOULD be able to perma jam most things.
As has been said though, miss a cycle and you are in trouble and with ECM there are no guarantees.

Just training up lv 3 atm
My first ideas for this ship (for pvp atleast) was a simple case of a Falcon. Because, thats all it is. A falcon, that can cloak (Although not warp cloaked) and does dps.
You had 8 mids, 1 more than a falcon. However, a much lower scan resolution. thus you need a sensor booster in order to lock things at a realistic speed. So 7 jammers (just like a Falcon) and 1 Sensor Booster. Lows, im thinking 2-3 Sig distortion amps, and a BCUII or two. And highs being the generic 5 CML II, and Cov Jump Portal. Rigs ofc being ECM strength.
However: The main reason i have this ship (Flame if you will :D) Is shopping. I can now fly to Jita, buy 300-400m3 of faction gear, and jump out via cyno, with zero risk. Sounds stupid i know, but saves shedloads of time, safer than normal, and great for personal logistics around 0.0 sov areas (unlike carriers).
Uses less fuel, can use jump bridges AND cyno arrays, and is a nice e-peen ship. What more can you want? :D

Right - Been doing some thinking on this and its uses.
As we all know, Black Ops dont have a good use really. Much like bombs, theyre good on paper, good on the drawing board, but when combined with that issue of balancing, they're limited at best.
However:
A Scenario/tactic i can see being put into play, is that of harrassing, and overall gurilla warfare. For example, you cyno into a hostile system. Covert cyno on a force recon = Perfectly safe. Once the cyno dies, you head on over to the station (im thinking 0.0 sov systems here btw). You sit there, waiting. And waiting. And a tad more waiting.
Eventually, your presence is ignored due to the lack of activity. At which point, you strike.
You approach a location inline with the last belt / a gate in system at the station. You uncloak, launch a bubble and anchor...and immediately burn away and cloak. You then wait. Again.
Eventually, a ratting BS comes along, or a hauler, and your 4-5 black ops BS uncloak. Each of you can cloak and move relatively fast and as such, are all at your optimals, spread apart. A widow at long range, jamming and spamming cruise. A Sin burning close, with Ogre IIs out. A Pather orbitting at 4-5kms. And a Redeemer sniping. The hostile BS dies. You all cloak....And wait some more.
The chances of a gang being formed whilst you take out that BS are slim, and at best, remote. When a gang finally is formed, the chances of them actually FINDING you are even worse. And if they DO find you...just make sure you're aligned to a safespot, and due to the speed bonuses when cloaked, you're fully aligned and at speed to instawarp when uncloaking.
Now, this is all rather fancy. The chances of this being an 'average' day are slim really. Id love to try it and all, but i doubt it would really work.
But at the end of the day, its a niche role, which helps in the diversity of eve. However, my personal experience is they do need some form of boost. Namely that of the locking penalty being removed, and cargo space. (for fuel)

Spot on mate....so many people jump on the bandwagon and moan about Covert ops ships (Bombers...Recons...Black Ops) I spent a lot of time in a hostile system a couple of years ago in a Manticore and the effect it has on morale is stunning. I pretty much did what you have suggested on a much smaller scale.
Ok your not going to make isk but the pure disruption side of things is crazy. The smack talk was legendary and was worth it in itself. I lost count of the times I was accused of being afk cloaked and being a griefer.....just made it all the more satisfying knowing they didnt really know.(I wasnt....I was just biding my time and picking targets,,,,,)
I knew I had completed my objective when a mining op consisted of two carriers and support ships protecting 4 barges and an indy....all because of little me.....one pilot in a itty bitty frigate.
Yes it takes time and a lot of setting up but in my opinion its what its all about. Its not to everyones tastes and requires a lot of patience and unfortunatly its hard to find many like minded people who are prepared to put the time and effort in to make it work. In my opinion the Widow just steps this up a level...yes the fuel may be an issue but with the right planning and organisation anything is possible. Just like it would have been possible to have countered what I was doing if they had the patience to do it...they didnt.
I think long term and the introduction of Black Ops ships is something I have been waiting for for a long time. They are most definetly a specialised ship but to me thats why I keep playing EvE.
Everyone has different opinions and always will have and those that think outside the box a little bit will make the most of them and have fun doing it....I know I do!
