This patch has cost me around 8 Million isk's at the very least. I now have to wait 2 days before my Caldari Knucklehead can learn Mining to lvl 4 & nearly the same for my Gallente Char so they can use the Miner II's they have been using for ages !!!
I've also just wasted 5 days learning Missile Op to lvl 5 for the sole purpose of using Cruise Missiles, again a waste as I could have left that for another time. That time could have been spent training Mining to lvl 4 in preparation for this patch ... !!!!!!!
And to top it off my ships keep flying through stations instead of docking at them
To say I'm a bit annoyed is an understatement. Not a very well prepared or thought out patch was it ? I''m sure it would have been better received despite the glaring bugs if all these gameplay affecting changes had been announced a week before the patch went live.

Why have you been mining for ages without training the mining skill to more than level 1/2/3?

It called balance change. Only 2 ppl are complaning over a lot.
R&D don't complain about having 2 rank 1 lv5 skill to learn and rank5 skill to research. And no other specialisation cost 40m for a RPM Research Project Management SKILL !!!!! Nice links (updated 20 Dec 04): BP, bugs about them. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way. |

Yea no kidding. Heavily mining with miner IIs without mining skills is just sad. I would like you to try combat with gunney at lvl 1.
The skills needed to mine need to be differentiated from combat skills and base skills. This was great first step towards that.

Sorry, maybe I should have been more specific. Both my char''s have mining skill lvl 3, therefore I''ve been mining for age''s using Miner II''s whilst concentrating on other skills (Weapons for the Caldari & Refining/Industrial for the Gallente). Therefore like I said, I would have paused the learning of other skills to prepare for the patch so that I didn''t loose out from my main source of income.
Hope it makes sense now

Oh & I'm not complaining about the fact that this has been done, that doesn't bother either way, I'm more annoyed that there was no warning. Would it not have made sense to give 1 weeks notice to the change ??

I too am somewhat annoyed that there was no warning with these skill changes. I fully understand the need for the changes and can even go so far as saying that I support them. However, I still think it was harsh not warning the players before these changes were implemented!

he's not crying over this, just would have been nice for them to give some warning about the change. doesnt even take a whole minute to write "the skill required to use a miner II is being increased to mining lvl4" its not hard --------

Ok I'll say it again for those that haven't quite understood what I am moaning about (& I am moaning I know) I have no problem with the learning requirements of any skill, none whatsoever, my issue is the lack of warning, the fact that we were not told of this change in advance so people who needed to could start training to the new levels. One weeks notice would not have been a problem for most I am sure, even a couple of days, but the fact we were given no notice at all & some people have lost out as a consequence, me being one, has annoyed me. Please stop thinking I am moaning about Mining level IV being a requirement for Miner II's, if thats what was required prior to the patch I would have trained to that level, but it wasn't so I stayed at level 3 while I concentrated on learning other skills.

Are you sure that there is not a philosophical position with it being bad that people who play on Chaos having an advantage over those that do not because they know of upcoming skill requirements and so pre-train them to gain an advantage over the (vast majority) of players who do not log on to chaor, check skills or read the boards when the pre-reqs are sometimes posted? :)

Edited by: Valan on 19/03/2004 00:50:37 Get used to it. Things change regularly around here. You'll either miss an update or not be told. Adapt and overcome or you'll go insane. Its not ideal its the way it is.
Anyone that lived through the Castor change knows what its like. I can see Shiva being the same.

I agree with manc ccp needs to give players more of a heads up about what they are changing. They said they would release the patch notes last monday. I didn't see them till last night. As manc said it is not the changes themselves it is the communication problems. CCP needs to get there act together and give the player base better info and they still did not fix the bug to allow you to anchor in .7 space.
