Edited by: Krauser on 01/01/2008 20:42:24 We already have this really phantastic Tool, the EVE Trade Finder, which analyses your Marketlogs to find valuable Routes, but unfortunately it does not allow to share Marketlog Files with you friends. So i started to work on a Tool which would allow EVE Trade Finder User to share their Marketlog Files.
I have Programmed a native Windows Application in REALbasic which works fine for my Corporation and i thought it may be of use for other EVE Trade Finder Users. This Tool lets you share your Marketlog Files via a FTP Server.
All you need is a FTP Server and to Download, Decompress and start the Tool. Enter your FTP and other needed Settings and hit the "Start Exchange" Button. The Tool, i call it the "EVE Trade Finder FTP Exchanger", will compare your local Marketlog Folder with the FTP Server Folder and synchronise them. And it will delete outdated Files from the Server.
If you want to help me improving it, send your experiences to [email protected]. And if you have some good experiences and want to show it to me, you are always welcome to wire some ISK to Krauser
The Tool can be downloaded from: EVE Trade Finder FTP Exchanger on EVE Files
Here are some Impressions: Main Screen Settings Screen About Screen
Version 1.0.5: + EVE Trade Finder Settings for Path & Outdated Value will be used from EVE Trade Finder Properties if both Tools are within the same Folder.
Version 1.0.4: + Added Timestamp to File Log + Extended File Log with retrieved File entry's * Renamed Tab 4 to "Server File Log"
Version 1.0.3: + Added Next Sync Run Time to Status Display (top right Window corner) + Added File Counter to File List's + Added "Quit" Option to Tray Icon Rightclick Menu
Version 1.0.2: * Changed whole Programm Logic because it was not reliable before. I am sorry, if some tests failed because of this + Added an Option to specify when Files are outdated + Added more detailed Status Messages to the ONLINE/OFFLINE indicator (top right corner) * Start/Stop Buttons will be active or inactive depending on actual Tool Status * Reversed Log Display's. Latest Messages will now be displayed at top of the Log - Removed anoying Message Boxes for Timeout and other non critical Error Messages from FTP Server
Version 1.0.1: + Added this Change Log + Refresh time Display added to Filelist's Heading's * Only *.txt Files will be sync'ed -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. One of the most active German Co |

With the latest Patch (1.0.8) we are now really in Sync with our Marketlog Files at our Test Farm. That means, if there are no more error reports, we can now move on to add new Features. Any ideas ?
BTW: Thanks to all who sent in Feedbacks since the Tool is out. With your help, we could really fast iron out all known Bugs. Thank you

*Updated First Post in thread with latest Version Info*
Version 1.0.9: - First Item in both Lists was always 1 actual & 1 previous Item of same Location&Item Type. - Local File Check was faulty and was running out of Sync soon. * Updated Tool Description in the About Screen. ! Often, you will notice more than 1 File of same Location&Item in the Folders. This is by design and no error.
Thanks again for the fast error reports. That really helps a lot. -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. One of the most active German Co |

Been playing around with this all afternoon and I cant get it to do what it says on the tin.
OK Scrap that, I just fired it up to get the exact server log, and its working, very strange...
Much investigating later, it seems Windoze firewall only seems to like this app I time in 100. Works fine with win fw turned off, also works fine on other machines with different firewalls.

Hi Bambi, may it be possible that you have the same issue as most of us have when we do not activate the PASSIVE mode? Please check your settings, because you can often pass only through your desktop and Router Firewall, when PASSIVE Mode is ACTIVE.
Please tell us more when you've made some more tests.
Thank you in advance. -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. One of the most active German Co |

I am currently working on Version 1.10 which will have a bit nicer looking exchange screen. But more important is that i've improved the Sync Routines, making them more reliable. I will have Passive Mode activate by standard from 1.1.0 on, but this will only affect first time Users. All other have to change the setting in the Settings screen, if needed. -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. One of the most active German Co |

Your app works almost perfectly for me now without Windows Firewall enabled. My troublke with PASV is that I am behind a router and I have to use PASV mode to get the a FTP LIST cmd to return a result. With PASV disabled all FTP apps just time out on a LIST cmd.
Using Ting Personal Firewall I have no issues at all, and your app syncs both folders almost perfectly. The Exchanger pane always seems to show 2 less files than my local folder, but if I check with an FTP app all files are present at both ends.
Looking forward to ver 1.10..
Have you thought about 1 huge central ftp database for ALL users?

Hmm... I use the MS Windows Vista Firewall, also behind a Router with an additional Nat Firewall. And it works just fine.

Yepp. I had only 1 Corp. Mate to test it with and so we could not test every possible case of Synchronisation. I am sure 1.1.0 will fix this strange behavior.

Yes, indeed. But my own FTP space is limited and the Website Traffic Limit is tied to it. So i cannot offer something like this. But i will first make sure that everything is solid as a rock, before i put more effort in this aspect.

I've just uploaded 1.1.0 to EVE-Files. We could not finish our test and tho i recommend to keep a copy of 1.0.9. Had to change the File Name on EVE-Files, because it took always the 1.0.9 from the Cache instead of delivering the 1.1.0
The Mainscreen has also been updated, but i get always the old screen from EVE-Files... i think it will just take some time until the new picture will be shown...
Alright. I've fastened my seatbelt and i am ready for your feedback

Edited by: Krauser on 06/01/2008 11:36:32 Yesterday, we could test the optimized Sync routine of Version 1.1.0 and it worked perfectly I am now going to implement 2 new features for 1.2.0
1. Color the Marketlog Files between green and red, depending on their outdated status. (Already working in my personal Beta) 2. Change the Configuration of EVE Trade Finder from within EVE Trade Finder FTP Exchange. (Easy to implement) -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. There are a few reasons, but mainly because...
- EVE-Central does not work good in game
- I've not yet found a Page which simply shows me all valuable Routes in realtime and ingame
- EVE-Central Data is often outdated or just not avail for the current region
- The PHP of EVE-Central is not very flexible. 1 wrong setting and all is lost because of PHP Error Messages
Do not get me wrong please, i also participate on EVE-Central and i am sure it world be awesome if it would generate ingame pages like EVE Trade Finder does, but at the moment EVE-Central is still far from this goal. I already sent them dozends of Error Reports, but never got any Feedback.
And think of those Corp. or Teams who focus on a few specific Items on the Market in just a few Regions. They definatly prefer a solution which shows only the needed Information as fast and as actual as possible.
But again, these are only the main reasons why i made this Tool for my friends and my Corp.. -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. One of the most active German Co |

Hrm ok. I think i'm missing something here. This program uploads your exported market files to an FTP server. So you and your friends can colate market date on the FTP server. So what next? How is that data interpreted and listed as profitable routes?

It's easy. First, you are right, my Programm uploads your own exported Marketlog Files to the FTP Server.
Here's the whole Task: EVE Trade Finder analyses your exported Marketlog Files and offer various InGame (on localhost) Wepages with valuable Trade Routes. You can look for TopListed Routes, Routes from your actual System, Routes froma specific System or to a specific System, some kind of "RoundTrip" where it creates a Route with multiple valuable Buy/Sell Locations, Routes for specific Items, and many many more. EVE Trade Finder generates these Routes within easy configurable options like Lowest and Highest allowed System Security, max. Jumps Distance, min. Profit per Trade, max. total Buy Price, and many more. But EVE Trade Finder is not yet able to synchronise the Marketlog Files with someone else.
This is where my Tool jumps in. It loads the Server Folder List and your local Marketlog Folder List. It removes outdated Files from the Server and ignores outdated local Files (because EVE Trade Finder already tkes care about local outdated Files). Then it synchronises your local Folder and the Server Folder. So, a whole Group of EVE Trade Finder & EVE Trade Finder FTP Exchange User, can work with ALL Marketlog Files from ALL users in this Group.
Everything is free configurable and i hope my EVE Trade Finder FTP Exchange Tool GUI is also easy to handle.
Please, if you have additional questions. You're always welcome to ask. -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. One of the most active German Co |

This brought me to an idea From Version 1.2.x on, it will be possible to upload the Marketlogs to EVE-Central. It's already working in my BETA. I "just" have to make sure that no File taken from FTP and only the latest local Files, will be uploaded. And this needs to be safe across all Programm Sessions. This will be more secure than just uploading all Files from the Marketlog Folder, as the EVE-Central Uploader it currently does.
The 1.2 Beta is already filtering the Marketlogs. And it does it better than the Marketlog Uploader from EVE-Central. (See the Python Source on EVE-Central and you will see very fast in which cases it will fail. Think about Region Names with a "-" in it's name and Item Names with a "-" in it's name for 1 File.
It will use your UserID from EVE-Central, if you enter your Name and Password into my Tool. It will upload the Data Anonymously if you refuse to enter your Data
Why will i add this ? Because the EVE-Central Uploader erases all uploaded Files and this is "not good" for the Synchronisation System

The EVE-Central Market Uploader is finished and will now be (stress) tested here. Here i have a first impression:
As promised, it only uploads your own Marketlogs, no Files downloaded by the Synch Routine) and it will only upload the latest file of each Marketlog, no matter how many you have in your local Folder.
You can optionally enter your EVE-Central LogIn Data to add all uploads to your EVE-Central Upload Counter. If you do not enter your LogIn data, you will upload all files anonymously.
The EVE-Central upload is scheduled to launch after each synchronisation cycle and can be stopped at any time.

Edited by: Krauser on 13/01/2008 23:21:15 Some other work caused a small delay here, and so i will need a few days longer before i can release 1.2.
But here is actual Progress of my work: + Added EVE-Central Upload. Check the "EVE Central" Tab for more info. Proxy Settings of IE will be used! + Started to write an online Help. You can find it on the "About..." Tab, by clicking on the questionmark + Added the abillity to read a mlx.cfg File, with some Server Rules, within the FTP Folder. See Online Help for more Info + Added some Server Info to "Exchanger" Screen. Info will be taken from mlx.cfg File, if one exists on the Server * No more outdated Handling! The latest File of double Marketlog's will be kept and all others will be deleted * Outsourced FTP and Transfer Log to external Files in Application Folder, to reduce Memory usage * Changed Name of application, to make it a bit easier to remember * Only one instance of the Programm, is allowed from this Version on, to make "cheating" EVE-Central Uploads harder * Programm Status Log, on "Exchange" Tab now properly updates the Up-,Download and Delete Counter's * Reworked Layout (a bit) * Simplyfied Sync Routine - Removed "FTP Log" Tab - Fixed minor issues with Sync Routine
This is a work in progress. Things may be a bit different in the final... -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. One of the most active German Co |

You can't be competitive if everyone else has the same data you do. It's also nice to be able to build your own reports the way you like them.
Ever make a big mineral buy only to find out the buy order has been filled when you get there? It's really bad when there are no other buy orders near it which are in the ballpark.

Kalixa Hihro is absolutely right, with her assumption that the Market would be kind of "messed up", if everybody would use the shared Data. But i believe there are two things which made me offer this Tool for everybody.
1st: EVE-Central and the EVE-Central UploaderSoftware, are not new on the Tool Market. Dozends, maybe hundreds, are using it, more or less frequently. And the Market still offers valuable Trades. 2nd: I've put a lot of work into this Project, and just wanted to "see" more people using it, than just a few friends of mine. I love to Code in my sparetime, and i am highly interested, in Feedback to my work.
So, from a Programmers view, i just HAD to offer it to everybody. From a Traders view, i am also "fearing" that my "income" will be reduced the more Traders start to share their Marketlogs. But then again, i "just" have to be faster or smarter than my competitors
BTW: Do'nt miss the new release, which includes an EVE-Central Uploader Function -- CEO of Armed Enterprises - A German Mining Corporation and Founder of C-P. |

BIG THANKS to Krauser.
It's a great idea to establish a private market data report for a commercial corporation.
I'm going to use it with the pushing email feature of eve central to get more data from some products.
Here is some idea to improve the soft:
A list of Dedicaded Public FTP exchange with specific sync option like: choose the market log product synched:(anymous connection)
A list of Dedicaded Private FTP exchange with specific sync option like: choose the market log productsynched, that you can subscribe (login/password connection)
