Hey guys i have been a resident of Eve for a month now, but i have 2 questions i hope you guys can answer for me! 1. How do you get missile hardpoints on your ship? 2. Is there a list which tells you what type of ammo is affective against each faction? Mainly this one because i am stuck on a mission where im killing each rat in 1 shot and the last crappy little frigate wont even take a scratch?
Thanks :)

Every ship-type has gun & missle hardpoints pre-determined. Your ship either has missle hardpoints, or it doesn't. There is nothing you can do to change this.

You will find this link very handy. It works great, in the ingame-browser.

1. You fly a ship with missile hardpoints (Kestrel, Breacher, Caracal, etc). There's no way to simply add them. ;-) 2. I don't know of an entire list that tells you what type of ammo to use. If you tell me what faction you're fighting and what type of gun you're using, I can tell you what to use though.

I've noticed this as well. Most of the enemy ships seem to take only a couple of missiles or less before they explode, but there are a few that I hardly seem to damage at all and have even rotated my missile types to try the different damage types with little success. One type certainly did more than the others but was still seeing a 50% or more reduction in damage. I was using Light Missiles against frigates so the signiture radius shouldn't have been an issue.

Were these L4 missions? In these you often have to deal with Interceptors that are very fast. When a ship flies faster than the explosion speed of a missile, it will still hit, but for greatly reduced damage in the same way that a high transversal speed will often hinder a turret in hitting a target. Try webbing such ships to slow them down and make them take the full brunt of your missiles, or if they come in really close, swap your assault launcher for rockets. Rockets are faster and have a faster explosion speed so should be less affected by speed tanks.

L2 Missions. They were Dire Pithi Saboteurs IIRC and they used a Merlin icon when targeted, Kinetic missiles seemed to do the most damage but they were only doing 26 damage, the rest were doing 18 or less. I have Standard Missiles trained to level 3 and almost all the supporting Missile skills to level 2 for reference.

Dire Pithi are advanced pithi ships. All pirate factions have a sub group which is significantly more advanced than their generic counterparts.
The advanced group tends to have the same weakest resist as the generic group, but ALL resists are significantly improved, and the damage they do is much greater.
I don't know all of them off the top of my head, but Pithi and Dire Pithi, Angels and Arch Angels, Guristas and Dire Guristas come to mind.
Also check out this website Eve-Infofor lots of useful information. I particularly like the agents database to help figure out where to find agents.

Hybrid weapons always deal a mix of thermal and kinetic damage.
Lasers always deal a mix of thermal and EM damage.
Projectiles deal a varied mix of damage depending on the ammo used.
Missiles, drones and smartbombs deal one type of damage but have flavors for each of the damge types.
Show info to see what type(s) of damage does.
