I heard an idea the other day, just thought I should post it.
Logicaly a space ship would have a place for its munitions before they enter the weapons systems and that place wouldnt be in the main cargohold. So, simply put, would it not be a good idea to add an "Ammo Bay" to ships that can use weapons? *This would free up the cargo bay and help keep ammo's organized. *The ammo bay m3 could increase with the addition of a new skill. *3 right-click options on the ammo's could be added. When your docked and youve got your hanger open, "restock all","restock bay" and "restock slot". 'Restock all', when clicked, would empty your guns/launchers, empty your ammo bay and restock all guns/launchers and ammo bay with the ammo type you right-clicked. 'Restock Bay', when clicked, would empty only your ammo bay and refill it with the ammo you selected. 'Restock Slot', when clicked, would drop a sub-menu and list the slots with weapons on your ship. This way only filling the slot you wanted with what you chose. It would automaticaly empty the ammo out of the launcher into your hanger.
And obviously, like a drone bay is only for drones, an ammo bay would only be for ammo.
Thoughts?

Now that's an interesting idea. I suppose it might be a problem to determine the size of the bays though... ..did you have an idea as to about how large they would be on various classes of ships?. Also, might this involve changing the size of any of the various kinds of ammo or charges? I would assume things like cap charges would also go in the ammo bay, but that could be a nerf to cap boosters if the bays are fairly small compared to the current cargo bays. Hmm.

No, they would have to nerf the regular cargohold afterwards.

Which would really ---- off people who mine in combat ships...
Well, everyone, really. It seems like having smaller cargoholds would just make everyone mad, but things could get messed up if the cargoholds stayed the same size. And would you also be able to keep ammunition in the regular cargohold, but not use it until you can dock and put it in the ammo bay? I would hope so...

Ive been thinking on that and theres 2 possibilities that come to mind. Lets say hypotheticaly that:
A) Ammo Bays became the same M3 as the cargo bay on the ship. This would be good, considering the amount of ammo you could carry would be the same as now. Another upside is that your cargo bay is now free and empty for whatever you may need or would want to bring along.
B) Ammo Bays are restricted to being half of the M3 of the ships cargo. This would limit the pilot a bit more and would invariably mean swaping ammo more often. (but why make the ammo bay half the M3 size of the cargo. Some people like to fill up full of just ammo. They should be able to load as much ammo in the ammo bay as they used to in there cargo bays)
As for the Cap Booster charges. Thats a good point to highlight. Im thinking a good option might be that seeing as its a medium slot ammo type like the sensor boosters now, perhaps it could stay in cargo. And if your ammo is in another bay then you would be able to carry more cap booster charges in your cargo.
Also, It might not be smart to nerf an ammo bay on a certain race ship that is intended for laser turrets. Knowing fullwell that laser crystals take less M3 of ammo compared to say someone running seige launchers. All ammo bays should be the same m3 as the cargo bays on the ships.
But how far can we take this. Could we even have ammo bays on exhumers and barges for the mining crystals. That would be great for people who like to stay organized in there cargo's while mining.
Another thing that makes me wonder is, will ccp nerf the cargo m3 capacity afterwards due to lack of use? Will it be unused? Will people find ways to use there cargo bays for spare fittings or various junk?
As for capital ships, Im open to ideas. Id suggest just ammo bays but then again that would really change the gameplay in capital warfare.

Sounds like a really good idea, only downside is know matter how many solutions players come up with CCP end up ruining it somehow. It may not be CCP's fault but they should try listening to the players more often as most of them come up with sensible and great ideas that COULD work.
A point on the Cap Boosters: Cap Boosters I think should get included as Ammunition because Cap boosters get used in PVP so often and by letting them apply in the Cargohold area would really allow too much of them, giving unfair advantages to other ships with bigger Cargoholds.
Feedback on this would be great

The simple answer is- each weapon already has an ammo bay. My rails hold between 40 and 120 rounds. My launchers hold about 30 each. etc etc etc. ------ Pain is weakness leaving the body.

Yes but that ammo-bay is extremly small and it also reloads ammunation from your cargobay...

Hmm , why not use a low slot mod that multiplies gun capacity ? More useful in combat than cargo expanders , would increase the net DPS slightly. Could work with cap injectors also.
Not a very high priority still.

There is ammo bay its called magazine :D I do like the idea of mod that doubles it might it be low slot or rig perhaps that would make more sense rig as semipermanent modification of the ships hull to accomodate the bigger magazine

I like the idea of a Rig slot to make the magizine size larger. Could come in handy as you would reload less making your ROF more efficent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
