can passive tank it... bout the only way to maintain tank on minmatar command ships. They have the best tank ever for about 1 minute till you're out of cap, otherwise any t1 BS is better at sustained tanking. _______________________________________________ Minmatar will always go faster than you, get over it. |

claymore probably has the best passive tank in the game

You can tank well over 1k dps with maxed tanking skills and an XL shield booster etc...But its far too cap hungry to be worth it. Signature removed. Contains no Eve content. Navigator ([email protected]) |

and specific rat, or all kinds? Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. And it was ten times too big :p If you would like further details please mail [email protected] - Cortes

Just a word of warning, if you're running the 10/10 guristas plex, there's alot of EM damage coming your way.

Claymore with 1 medium deadspace booster, 2 pith/gist kinetic hardeners, 2 pith/gist thermal hardeners, 1 invul. Your gangmates giving you shield maint bots.
Atleast that was some kind of setup a D2 guy had on his plextanking sleipnir, probaly a good setup because of no holes in resistances and insane resists.
Another was an eos with 1 corpum repper, kin/therm core hardeners and 1 enam for also very good resists vs em/kin/therm.
Youre not soloing the complex, so might aswell pimp out the resistnaces and get some rep drones on you from the other guys dpsing.

There are 2 ways a deadspace complex can be tanked.
1. a Specifically fitted Battleship or Commandship set up to tank that complex with tank related Links and being remote repped/Cap transfered
2. Minmatar Assault Frigate nano'ed with a Tech II/faction AB and a low grade snake set.
The first way is obvious, you need a small gang to support your tank but as long as you get aggro before your support enters the area your support can use remote reps/cap transfers to keep you alive while killing everything.
The second way was a very common way to tank static complexes before they were moved to exploration. as long as you can get an assault frigate (minmatar by preference)to go faster than 2KM/s with shield extenders and the occasional remote rep assistance from light drones you can tank way more damage than the first way. Only problem is try not to bounce off the scenery otherwise you will instapop from the cruise/heavy missiles following.
In my experience anything above a 6/10 cannot be done solo and an ideal gang size is 4-6 people.
1 Tank 1 Support 1 Salvager/looter 3 damagedealers
some of the above roles can be combined
Another good way that I have used is a spider tanked Domi setup. Use 2/3 domi's with double reps and remote reppers/cap transfer array's. Mix of damage specific tech II drones and you can tank insane amounts of damage. A friend and I once had a site that did 3K DPS and we tanked it doing the above.

I'm training up for a claymore myself for more or less the same reason. I want something I can use for level 5 missions while still being reasonably cheap. I got my Nighthawk ganked when I ran a low sec mission last time, so if the claymore can perform I would love to see some setups.

Problem with a passive claymore is that it uses guns as a very large percentage of its damage, so it has to be mobile enough to get in range. So it could passive tank very well, but thats it, no damage unless they're within 13k of the ship :P And if you actually want to use gang modules as the op mentioned, you won't have a good enough passive tank anymore. _______________________________________________ Minmatar will always go faster than you, get over it. |

Edited by: Zerode on 03/01/2008 15:54:00 Edited by: Zerode on 03/01/2008 15:51:03 I'd fit the Claymore (or any T2 high resist shield tanked ship) like a floating passive brick and remote shield boost it with a Basilisk at 344 HP shield boost every sec that will with a ship as listed here give you a tankt to die for, close to 3500 dps 24/7. To get 90% or more ressists in EM, Kinetic and Thermal as all passive you will need the following fitting:
1x Pithum A-type Magnetic Scattering Amplifier 2x Pithum A-type Heat Dissipation Amplifier 2x Pithum A-type Kinetic Defelction Amplifier
For low and rigs I'd sugest this to get the hp buffer up a bit: 4x Power Diagnostiic System II 2x Core Defence Field Extender II
But don't expect any of these ships to do any real damage DPS wise, bring 2-3 good gank ships (Maybee Golem or CNR). |

i did a 8/10 angel in an ishtar solo. it took ages but i was successfull :) and it was a mix of faction armor tank + afterburner + sentry drones and killing small things first + staying out of sentry range.
but my best complex ship is still a harpy + remote boosted. Tanks everything if the you don't loose the remote shield transfers. If the remote shield transfers stop...
...good bye gisti mods :)

Not sure about plex's but a setup i used to run for lvl 4 missions that has plenty of extra tank, though i've never pushed it to see exactly how much extra.
basicly took the ships bonus to the extreme and made it almost a pure Raw shield tank, Gisti XL booster, Crystal set, 2 shield amps, since something i noticed is regaurdless of what the desription says they don't stack, and you end up being able to rep 2.5K shields every cycle,
fit with T2 650's and with Tremor ammo your optimal is beyond your targeting range, don't even have to move, add a few drones for the frigates that get close and role, with cap rigs you can run the booster permanatly.
damage is a little low with only the 5 guns but it tanks
