I was in a Tristan. (thank bob I wasnt in my Moa)
And my friend was in a tristan also.
We were just hunting rats in a belt, in a gang and I let off a smartbomb on a few rats. And it hit my friend.
All of a sudden I hear the ships computer tell me "Your security status has been lowered" (By bloody 0.5)
The next thing I know theres a concord battle ship on my ass! And the bugger scrambled my warp too!
Now I'm too scared to use smartbombs.
Is this a freak occurance? A bug perhaps? Or just not a good idea to use smartbombs.

If you initiate an act of agression in safe space Concord will react. Concord do not know who your mates are unfortunately.

Yeah but when I fire a missile and it hits a near by friendly concord don't react.

If you hit a corp mate, you're OK. Out of corp definitely not. Not sure if you can shoot noob corp mates, been a long time since I was in a noob corp and it was pod time back then.

Last time I checked missle splash (except on torps) has been removed from the game to reduce server lag or something along those lines. Patch Notes
But yes if splash still worked it for those that would be an act of hostility.

Smartbombs have no splash effect but an area effect by purpose. Have a look at the Intergalactical Summit where I was told that smartbombs are for smart people only - hey, I lost my typhoon because of that. My suggestion: Unfit smartbombs while in central space.

Smartbombs will activate sentry fire even in 0.0 space if you are too close to a station when you activate them. We lost a couple blackbirds because of that.
As someone else pointed out already they don't do splash damage (which is fixed) but everything that is within their area of effect will get damaged, stations, gates and Concord included.
Don't use smartbombs close to stations, gates and Concord and you will be fine.

The smartbomg is not a weapon that is target specific - in fact in dont care whats in the area. With your buddy inside the blast radius - yu committed an act of aggression. End of Story - learn from your mistake or go pirate.

OMG you are a berk. She's just out to clarify some info and certainly doesn't need replies like that.
Bjarna, Concord only react if you hit a non corp member (with any weapon) even if they are in a gang.

The question for me is, are you allowed to attack people in your gang without a Concord response? Because you should be able to.

I thought that people in a gang could attack each other or recieve friendly fire from each other with no aggression from Concord. Were you ganged when this happened?
