They are NOT legit and will most probably contain keyloggers and all that crap. Buying Isk for RL cash is NOT legit either, just remember that.
EVE-uni is a corporation that takes on new players to help them learn about the game. If you're willing to put in effort and to read and learn it's possibly the best start you can make in EVE. Simple join the "EVE university" channel ingame.
To salvage wrecks you need a salvager I, a high slot module. Check it in the market window and get the required skills to use one.

Salvaging wrecks requires a salvager module, acts like a weapon, you lock target and hit hit salvager module.
Edit : You will need....

and

Take a look at the skill required, shouldn't take you long to get them and it will be worth it.

These are offers from so called ISK sellers. Companies that sell their services (for real money!) in helping you cheat at the game. The discussions about paying other people to effectively play the game in your stead can take many threads, and usually do, so i am sticking to some cold hard facts here. If you look at the EULA(the contract you had to agree to before you could play this game), buying anything from these companies is in direct violation of the rules, wishes and intentions that the developers of this game put in place in regards to how you should play this game. If they catch you doing it (and they have some very sophisticated means of doing so), there will be sanctions, usually resulting at the least in the complete removal of the funds you bought(and this is one way your walled cn go into the red, effectively rendering you unable to trade), possibly supplemented with a warning or an account suspension.
There is only one legitimate way in which you can use real world money to gain an advantage in game: You may use the services CCP themselves put in place to trade game time cards for ISK. This way, you effectively accept ISK to pay for someone else's subscription.
Many players consider the use of real world money to advance a virtual character a form of cheating and since one of the key characteristics of an online game is that it is expected to provide a cheat free environment where accomplishments mean something, cheaters are heavily condemned by such players.

EVE University is a player corp that specializes in breaking new players into the many aspects of this game. While there are other corps that provide better education in a specific aspect of EVE (like Agony Unleashed whose PvP school has very high recognition), EVE Uni does it all, and still to a degree that is ver worthwhile. It is also one of the few corps that is acknowledged as being one where a complete clueless newbie can join, enjoy his time and come out a much improved player. It may (i am not sure about the actual mambership requirements) also be one of the few corps that hires trial characters.
If the above didn't answer the second part of your question, here is it in short: You could do a heck of a lot worse than joining EVE Uni until you get your feet wet and have a better idea what kind of regular corp you want to join.

and also, how do i salvage wrecks?
Salvaging is as simple as locking on to the wreck and activating a Salvager while being within 5km of the wreck. All the fuzz surrounding salvaging is centered around getting the skills to actually use the salvager (requires the salvaging skill which in turn has mechanic and surveying as prerequisites), making it finish with a wreck faster, and salvaging as many wrecks as possible in as little time possible, which includes moving the wrecks so you don't waste much time moving back and forth between them (which means pulling them in with tractor beams).
Best way to find out the skills needed is to look up the Salvager 1 and the tractor beam (both in the scanners category on the market) and click on the required skills tab.

there are so many different variants of guns and ammo that it would make sense to carry at least 2, one for short and long range at least but ive read here that u shouldnt mix guns. why not?
it surely doesnt make to sense to enter battle with only one type

It is generally better to have maximum effectiveness from all of your weapons at the same range. There is little point on having only half of your weapons working properly.
Fit all of your weapons for the same range, and fit so that you can maintain that range. That will be far more effective than using half of your weapons when at long range then half your weapons at short range.

You cannot swap out a gun for another one in space. Only at a station or a suitable POS (player owned structure).
My fitting a long and a short range gun you are halving your damage output.
It would be better to either fit all short or all long then use an afterburner (or other speed mods) to either get in at short range quick or stay at long range avoiding enemy fire.

As for your OP questions they seem to have been answered. Eve is a big game with a lot of depth. Try to take things slow and ask lots of questions.
You might get a few silly answers but generally the community is pretty good.

Yeah, the idea is to have all guns be effective, so fit long range and then warp in at long range, plus use afterburners to stay far away, or fit short range, warp in at 0, and use afterburners + webifier to stay close and slow them down.
For bigger ships that have or force you to use multiple weapon systems (for example, guns and drones, or guns and missiles), it may be ok to have the weaker weapon system optimized for emergency (for example, you can go guns long range on a cruiser, and keep the couple drones that it can carry for killing anything that gets close to you), but still you should be trying to maximize everything you do being at the best range for your weaponry.

No. This would make cash farming too easy.

If theft is illegal why are junkies still robbing car radios? Just because something is forbidden doesn't always stop people from doing it.
They are breaking the terms of usage though, so just petition them.

More specifically, when you see an ISK seller spamming a channel, file a petition under Harassment (category is EULA and Terms of Service). Those get acted on immediately.
Protip: Don't file petitions under harassment just to get them looked at quickly unless it really is harassment (ISK seller, etc). GMs don't take kindly to abuse of that system. ;)
