This would make things WAY easier, for all of us.
I recently decided to try exploration, but I can't get passed the third Career Mission because I can't find the damn Gravimetric Site. Do you guys know how hard it is to triangulate scan probes? If scan-probes could triangulate based on eachother's positions with the push of a button, I am pretty sure more people will be willing to try and continue with exploration.
I know alot of you would complain about bots, or do the opposite (they have that already, its called botting), but I still think this would be a very good idea, and a feature that would be appreciated by and has been requested by many people. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

It's not THAT hard. Try harder... They already triangulate based on eachothers position. Improve weapon sound effects |

lol, so you want to take the skill out of exploring. That's just stupid. Exploring is designed to be a difficult process that rewards patience, intelligence, and hard work. It's not for everyone. There is no reason to dumb it down.
And it really isn't hard at all, it just takes practice to learn how to do it. There's no need for a "do it all for me" button.
And who else has requested it? You're the first person I've seen that has requested it. |

Still the interface could be smother, most of the challenge is to deal with that interface and not the actually positioning. |

The interface really isn't that bad at all. Sometimes it's annoying when it refocuses on a celestial you didn't want to, it's a pain, but it's easy to re-center the camera once you've practiced it a bit.
Have you tried to learn the interface and practiced with it? As someone who has spent a large amount of time probing, I can tell you that it becomes quite simple to manipulate with a bit of practice. |

All I want is a button that positions the probes around eachother. That's it.
And it is a decent idea. You still need to find the locations on your own, but positioning the drones around eachother would be nice.
I said it once, and I'll say it again, this is not a bad idea. Just because it is so small of an idea, that doesn't automatically make it a bad idea (I will NOT tolerate it anymore, Xolve).
I also think an improved UI for scan probes would be very useful. And I did think my idea through. I don't see any problems with this idea at all.
And before you say that it ruins the fun, there isn't anything 'fun' about the way scanning works. Sure, you might be delighted when you find something, but sometimes triangulating the positions can be difficult. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

You do know that you can launch 5 or 6 probes (depending on skill) and just move them away from each other and form them up in whatever configuration you want, them hold down SHIFT to move them all together right?
I also could careless about what you can and cannot tolerate, abide by, or deal with. Inappropriate signature removed. Navigator. |

I didn't know that I could move them as a group by holding down shift, but you should at least not be such a jerk about it.
For all you know, I could just be planning my revenge against you. Don't feel angry, though. I am also plotting against a few others.

As Xolve said, I think you might be suffering from not knowing some things about the scanning interface.
The simplest way to probe consists of: 1. Launch 5 or 7 probes while sitting at one spot 2. Move 4 or 6 of the probes out from the center, one in each direction (and move them all the same amount, the easiest way to do this is to put them so that their arrows just touch and don't change zoom between probes) 3. Set probes to 32AU and pick a sig to scan down 4. Use shift to move your whole cluster of probes so it's centered around the sig and use Shift or the scanner window to reduce their size one notch 5. Use alt to move your outer 4/6 probes in or out to get the proper overlap 6. Scan 7. If the sig hit 100%: goto 3 8. Else: goto 4
And then you're done probing the whole system. It's really quite easy if you keep them in a regular pattern and use Shift to move/resize them all and Alt to resize the formation. |

This is another sad case where OP didn't look up probing techniques on Youtube before posting terribad idea.
Please do your research before posting, some people can scan down 1-2 signatures a minute, this suggestion would increase this significantly |

you know if you use 6 probes, move them all away you get a three teeny green lines that make it much easier to set up your probing.

So stop calling it terribad. Does it break the gameplay? No. Does it cause balance issues? Not really. Does it make things harder? No, it does the opposite.
Besides, what if you try to increase or decrease the distance between probes while still keeping their distance from eachother? You still have to go through the trouble of positioning them individually and the like.
Besides, some people don't know these things, so why not give them a hand, eh?
This is the kind of thing that deserves the "Why not?" classifciation. It wouldn't take CCP that long to program, they have all of the power they need to do so, and it would make scanning things less frusterating.
Besides, I already got the hang of it a few hours ago. You're right, it takes some practice, but not everyone learns at the same speed as others, and some people learn some things quickly and other things slowly.
Also, I would flip one of you off right about now, but I am feeling generous. I'm looking at you, Xolve.
TL:DR Sometimes the little things are the best changes, but it is impossible for those kinds of things to go into effect because of the average forum user. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

This is also useful to know. Thanks.
Look, guys. Everyone needs help with something at some point, and quite a few people I know in-game don't have many friends who are readily available.
And I like that one guy's idea on making it so that you can look straight up or straight down ad a full 90-degree angle. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

Then you ask nicely for some help, either in Missions and Complexes or in the Exploration channel in game, where there are explorers. Posting in F&I with what amounts to "The game should do this profession, which requires skill and practice, for me" is a way to get flamed.
There's a difference between "Hey, maybe I'm not getting this, could someone explain it" and "I'm not getting it, therefore CCP should change the game to make it easier". |

I agree that that everybody needs help, but you need to ask for it and learn how its currently done before suggesting changes, or else your going to get ganked on the forums. Do your research and get good at it, then make changes. A little check list I like to go through before suggesting a change on F&I (unless I'm drunk, then all bets are off, and I drink a lot)
-Am I proficient at the mechanic I'm suggesting a change to, if not do that first -Look up videos and research on the forums past suggestions to any issues I might have -Post a question to the new citizens sub-forum as General Discussion will get trolled -Once I know the subject inside and out, then analyze my idea to see if it would improve the current system and not overpower it -Finally, after all that I make the post to F&I
Lazyness is no excuse for ignorance, there is a wealth of information about Eve all over the place if you just look. People are nice if you just ask how to do something they will understand, they had to learn too. Suggesting changes to something you don't completely understand is the best way to get flamed.
EDIT: and mxzf beats me to the 'do your research' post... |

No, your post was well written too, research is definitely important, especially before posting here (not that pretty much anyone bothers researching, or even thinking, before making threads here, but that's beside the point). I was mostly going for "Ask nicely for info before demanding change". |
