I agree with everything you said, except that some people's playing style absolutely requires that they force their style on everyone else they who gets in their way.
It's a bit difficult not to play in combat style when some wannabe pirate blows you up, while you are in a defenceless indy, from 90km with 1400mms just because he can.

I was ganked the other night at the HED gate, by a load of Moo (ha!) and Evol. Lost BS, 5 implants and a lot of named mods.
Entirely my own fault for not checking the map and/or being more cautious. I could have avoided it, if I had not been playing recklessly.
We already (almost) have consensual PvP. Without the danger that this might happen, this game would be completely pointless. Electronic stamp collecting (or whatever your "favourite" geeky hobby might be).
So I say NO! to your ludicrous suggestion.
Please bring back a bit of risk to Empire space CCP. Couldn't you just make starter craft invunerable in .8 and above? Or make PC ships attacking noob players in those areas receive a warning which, if ignored, leads to sudden total power core failure (accidents do happen) with the same effect as pressing "self destruct".

you can always avoid... you just have to know who is around you. And only from 90k? hes only a baby pirate...
Like was said above, check the map and local if you venture in to low sec space, ESPECIALLY when your in an indi... We would not let an indi go though 0.5 and below on its own, covoy all the way.

Sounds like you were in low-security space (since there was no CONCORD response). Which begs the question "what were you doing in low-security space in a defenseless indy"? Seriously! I'm not trying to sound harsh, but it's called low-security space for a reason. Next time at least bring a corp-mate along in a frigate to scout ahead of you, and chalk it up as a learning experience.

I'm terribly sorry, but PvP is such an integral part of the Eve experience that your suggestion is quite ludicrous. And if you were shot at by anybody not a war with you, then you were in .4 space or lower - meaning you were warned that you could be shot at by anyone at any time. That's your consentual PvP right there.

Edited by: Mad Ahab on 19/03/2004 22:18:26 I have always viewed entering a low sec area as consenting to PvP. High sec areas are PvP free. I would never solo mine in low sec space and neither do my friends. I always escort someone or am escorted by a friend when I mine low sec. Sure if you solo mine you get all the money but you can also get your ship blown up too :) Besides as the standing escort you get to blow up npcs so it's not a total wash.

When angry upon german players because of what-so-ever, stop offending them with "N*zi" or any other similiar crap. You'll only end up getting a nasty petition upon yer head. There has been another senseless offending comment a while ago.
Perhaps the newb should take a closer look to that long text you accept when Eve is started.

I couldnt agree more!!
The N#zis were a minority who held control by terror over the majority of good German people. The Wermacht(hope I spelled it right) was a Honorable army and very brave, it was the N#zis and the SS that gave the whole german race a bad history .
If these young ones would bother to read history they would see that the Wermacht officers tried to assasinate H1tler and end the problem and were Executed for it.
Also at the end the horror story of the N#zis throwing the Wounded Wermacht soldiers off of hospital ships to escape and save their own Butt's also comes to mind.

I could go on and on about Early 20th century Germany and historicaly how they ended up being put in unfair positions time and time again. However a deep discussion on this might break the forum rules. :)

I'm american and I live here in Germany, so I know that story well enough. Nevertheless, there is no need to insult every single german player with some crap that happened 60 years(+/- what-so-ever) in a game where we're at least +20000 years away ;)
Just keep the insults some where else :D Counter-Strike or so >)

Couldnt agree more, I dunno how many real world threats ive recived just from liberating some people from their ships (probably 2 serious ones). Sure it mighta not been nice, but this is a game and losing something in a game shouldnt make you threaten someone's REAL life. Ive had some crazy in-game person say some pretty nasty things just cause I bumped off 2 of his? corp mates mining BSs (hey 0.1 systems arnt safe ya know....). I think you can report someone for these things but I was just to lazy. Then I get a msg. from a GM saying I am being repoted for useing foul words . But oh well I guess eve is kinda like real life in some ways, if u get knocked down, dont complain, just relax, and pick yourself up.
