I've recently started doing trade runs and both myself and a friend of mine have noticed an issue when selling cargo.
Every time we find a run, purchase items, and then take it over to station to sell, the price goes *up* after we sell it. If we do the same run again, the second time we sell the item, the price goes down.
I haven't taken note of actual figures yet, but here is an example of what I'm talking about:
I buy 500 units of antibiotics from a station at 10 ISK per unit. I travel to another station and I sell it for 20 ISK per unit. After I sell it, the price the station is buying the antibiotics for goes *up* to 23 ISK per unit.
I am able to go back to the first station, buy more antibiotics, then travel back to the station and sell that load for 23 ISK per unit. Once I do this, the price will drop to 18-15 per unit, as it should.
I have done this at least three times with three different commodities at different stations, and a friend of mine has done it at least three times as well with different commodities.
When we sell items, the price the station is buying them for should always go down, because now they have more of that item, which means they need it less. They will buy more, but at a lower price than before.
Does anyone know of a reason why this behavior is occurring? If it shouldn't happen, I will start recording times, amounts, and prices, and I will fill out a petition with all of the information to pass along to CCP.

This has always been the case on rarely traded items.
The solution? Stop wasting your time trading NPC goods.

Well, I might not be making the billions of ISK that people do when they're trading with other players in 0.0, but I'm enjoying it for the moment. No waste here.

The answer to your next question - why does it do this - is we have no idea, it's been this way ever since we can remember, and we weren't going to tell the Devs.

If you Buy stuff, it's the same. The first price change is often down not up, the 'wrong' way.

I played with this quite a bit when I traded planetary vehicles and vitoc.
You can essentially manipulate the npc price up or down on buy/sell orders.
I think the logic seems to be with npc buy orders for example if you sell volume under the buy order volume the npc thinks there is less supply then can meet its demand and will thus raise its buy order price.
If you don't over sell to the order the price will continue to rise. The problem is when an npc market gets saturated other people ruin it.
So my method was to either buy or sell 1 unit before I made my actual transaction. That way if it had been long enough since the last transaction the npc order recalculates itself and changes the price, usually in your favor. This can pad your profits about 10-20% if you preform the manipulation on both sides of the trade.
