Hello,
No doubt this has been answered before but with the lack of a decent search facility ill ask it again.
I'm new to the game and im trying to upgrade my Amarr frigate level to 3, it is currently telling me that im another 18 hrs away from completion!!!
Can this be write or am i missing something because at this rate ill be years before i can even buy a decent ship????

Get used to it guy. All my skills take at least 2 days now. _ _ How many pilots does it take to wire a Flux Capacitor? 3, 1 to wire it and 2 to talk about how the old one was better. |

Gunnery level 5 takes 13 days at learning level 1...
Like the man said, get used to it.

You should reallt train all the learning skills first to atleast level 4, that helps so much on your training times.

Really, it's nothing, because unlike other games, you train 24 hours a day, even when not playing.
Not to mention that you first train the learning skills before anything else: 1) memory 2) intell 3) learning 4) (per, will, char)
And of course, knowing how nice it is to train fast and have skills, you make getting implants a high priority. If a starting char, you first prioritize what big long thing yer gonna be training next, so you don't waste ISK on implants for attributes whose skills you won't be training soon.
Or petition CCP for s "Click Here to Level Up" button. -.-

This is not a game you where you're l33t next week, it takes time to build up your skills both in skillpoints and experience, and then you still need isk too ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

It's funny how the longer you play the less it bothers you. I remember when I got my first level 5 skill, drones I think, and I thought I was da schiznit. Now a level 1 skill at 5 isn't that impressive to me. I just finished Metallurgy 5, a level 3 skill the other day, which still feels like an accomplishment cause it took more than 2 weeks to train...

Indeed, I now consider anything that's less than a week as a 'quick' skill...sigh...

Since you are new you might not be aware that skills continue to train while you are off line. So 18hrs isn't really that long.
However, even though skills are training while you are offline sometimes it's a long wait...I'm still debating if I want to wait 46 days for a level 5 skill.
Also note, you can only train one skill from one character at a time....

Yeah, I am working on Surgical Strike 5, total time is 20 days and 1 hour. That seems like a small amount of time lol. Large projectile 5 was 25 days and 5 hours, that seemed like a small amount of time. Even Battleship 5 at its 40 days and 2 hours doesnt seem long. "I'm comin' for ya, and Hell's comin' with me!" |

Looks like you`ve got pretty much the same skill set-up as me - Battleship 5 has been the longest skill I`ve trained - i think my guy done it in 38 days.
Surgical 5? - I don`t think I can justify 20 days for a 3% increase :(

I remember back before launch that this was going to be one of the big selling points for me. Now that I'm finally using the system I must say it works very well and I like it!
I mean, no more mindless "leveling treadmills" of other games. I can actually go out and do what I want to do, which is of course earn money. ;)
So in the early times just be ready to set a "long" skill to before you go to bed or go to work. Then as the times get longer (days) then it'll make your choice in skills much more interesting and important! Never forget, a Jack-of-all-trades is master of none. |

I haven't been playing that long - drones 5 is 14 days - only have 3 left now but it does seem a long time for a level 1 skill. I have got my learning skills up to level 4, but my characters memory is very low (8). I haven't got the isk for an implant, is there anything else I can do to improve my attributes?

The Eve-db website has advanced training skills listed now, so they may be introduced soon...
Might be worth leaving the high rank level 5 skills alone atm unless you have nothing else to train _____________________

Sparhawk, Train all the learning skills to at least a level 4!!! Mine are ALL at Level 5 but believe me its time Well invested..
And the 2 skills I would train to 4 or 5 if I were you FIRST would be Intelligence and Memory

I'd say skill training time only feels long until you have trained the basics that you need to even get around. I remember when the 3 days or so to get Gallente Frigate 4 felt like a lot of time, but I stopped worrying about training times after two months or so. Training Engineering 5 for 6 days felt really short after I had spent about 3¢ weeks to get Gallente Frigate and Evasive Manuevering fully trained so I could command an interceptor.
