So Heavy Assault ships require you to have Assaults Ships,which require frig 5 mechanic 5, blah blah blah).
Yet Heavy Interdictors don't require Destroyers 5, and a certain level of regular Interdictor. The warp disruption device is even different(not a probe launcher) so basically anyone that had cruiser 5 only have about 11 days of training to get in the ship(prop jamming 5, most have it at least 2-3) and then 3-4 days on graviton physics.....
Was the lack of pre-reqs intended or an oversight?

Why do you try to figure this out? It's not going to get changed, stop crying about it and trying to make the game harder and more frustrating than it already is to people who want to get into certain ships. CCP decided it that way, that's how it's going to be.

Yeah its late and I forgot to EVE Search it....I fail
BTW..I am ecstatic about it because I got this character from a friend and my old character use to have dictors, so I missed them. Nice to know I can be back in one very quickly :D

The Assault Ships skill does not require Frig 5.

Wow...you are quite correct...I wonder if that is a new change? I trained AS almost 3 years ago so I can't remember.
So it is possible to get into a HAC without frig 5...you couldn't actually pilot an Assault ship though until you got Frig 5, but, yeah, the skill doesn't require it.
Thats quite funning actually. Having Assault Ships 4 and Heavy Assault Ships 4, yet not being able to pilot either ship because you don't have Frig 5 or Cruiser 5.

It has always been that way, its a common misconception in regards to T2 skills. Not even the Exhumers skill requires Mining Barge 5.

But not for Hac's or commandships. And honestly, how many are really out to fly AF's?

HACs require cruiser 5 to get into and command ships require cruiser and BC 5 to get into
you can train Assault ships, heavy assault ships, and command ships with out it... but you still need the level 5 tech 1 skills to actually get in the ship

The problem is if they did change it to what seems a sensible requirement (interdictors 4) loads of ppl will be left with HICs they now cannot use all of a sudden and the crying and weeping would drown out all other EvE sounds.
