Edited by: Tribunal on 19/03/2004 21:55:43 Here I sit, going through the escrow trying to find something that I am interested in buying. Oh! There is a BP I really want. <clicks to inspect it and sees that the escrow is empty>. Ok.. well there is a cruiser for a good price! <clicks to inspect and sees a shuttle>....
This is how I spend 80 percent of the time going through escrow. This scam epidemic needs to stop now. Why am I so firm on this being stopped ASAP?
Quote:
6. SCAMMING
Severe offenses may result in an immediate ban without warning; however, warnings may be given for first time offenses, followed by account suspensions of varying degree and ultimately a permanent ban if a player:
a. Illegally obtains items from another through use of an exploit or cheat method. b. Intentionally creates missions that cannot be completed through normal game mechanics or abilities. c. Has been told by a GM to discontinue a scam ploy and disregards the instruction.
Clearly the system is not being kept up with. The first two pages of escrow contained these "scammers", which is an amazing number considering I was not actively looking for them;
Iznogoud 3 drone *****kat Ryctor Jacque Sparrow 101110101101 Eversucks Cyzan The Famer Lord Goldberg Mindseamstress Ramia AgentX
Now get to work and do something about this!

Not all are scammers--T2 blueprints do not show up on escrow (making it look like a blank escrow). Same with 0-runs... but those are scams :)

I agree, something needs to be done with escrow. I know it'll change later, but we need it soon(tm). Scams are fine, but there's *LOTS* of them, escrow might actually be usable if they all went away.

The solution is simple.
They have a moderator for the forums to prevent spam? Correct?
Have a moderator for escrow to remove scams! Simple! Hell, I'd do it. ------- Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes Guardian Enforcer, wrecking for 827.3 damage. |

Why don't you learn the game mechanics instead of trying to carebear them.

Because it is not worth my time to deal with them. Maybe it amuses you... just annoys me!

So if you don't want to learn the game mechanics, what do you want to do? Show of your stuff and think you're cool and know that you'd be ended in 15 secs in 0.0
Keep on flaming, lamers.

WTF?!?! I don't even use Escrow except to transfer stuff to friends. The ONLY time I really tried to sell ANYTHING on Escrow and it was a Raven 1-run and it had 0-runs by accident because it was used.
If you look at Escrow, I doubt you will even see my name. Serously, you have offended me.

I recall seeing yours and zincols crap all over escrow a while back, if I'm the only one seeing it I'm sure this will blow over but I'm fairly sure it was no less than 4 items of questionable character.
At least you don't pride yourself in running that crap on there.
Myself yes I charge outrageous prices most times but that's hardly scamming, you hear me you grumpy old fart!?? Yes you.
No not you Lord Draco, the other guy not knowing what a scam is...

Edited by: Frankinator on 20/03/2004 05:36:03 Do your homework better next time, search through the help thingy for 'scam' and you will find the following:
As can happen in the real world, at some juncture someone may try to take away from you the possessions you have gathered with your hard work and effort in the dynamic world of EVE-Online, by using either a scam or an exploit.
1) A scam is what happens when someone takes advantage of your misplaced trust and robs you of your possessions via legal in-game means. When this occurs, there is nothing the GM¦s/Support Team can do for you. Although low and despicable, this is something that can happen in real life, and the world of EVE-Online has been made to resemble it in as many fundamental ways as possible. Example of a scam can be found here.

Seriously, I think you are seeing things man. I WOULD NEVER scam ppl. If ANYONE could point anything I even have on escrow, I would love to see it. I seriously dont even use it except to transfer stuff to friends.
If this was RL, you'd be hearing from my laywers. There is nothing I can do here, but demand an appoligy.

As explained that's how I remember it, since my memory stuck you with a number of scams in the making on one account and you got grouped up with zincol having a number of scams running at the same time, him having a previous record of running scams there the infamous part bled over to taint you too. That adjective I'll retract but I cannot apologize for how I recall the event.

Well... PvP, Ship Configs, etc. That is fun.... and game mechanics. Having a bunch of perpubescent goobers flooding escrow with scams does not add to my play experience. What the heck is it about scam escrow packages that amuses you? Are you too inept or lazy to make money mining, building or fighting? I am not asking for high security zones and sentry guns here (let me know when ya wanna play in 0.0)... I just don't want a bunch of scammer spam in escrow. So get a grip goober!

Frankinator was correct with his post. Forgive me for thinking that a gaming company would have pride enough to keep players in check as far as scams go. This is the first online I have ever played where they look the other way.

I agree. It has nothing to do with scammers so much as there's so much stupid crap on there I can't find anything worth looking for.
Here's another novel idea: make it so that anyone on your block list is blocked from Escrow. Then when people scam, you can block them and never see another Escrow order they offer.
Eventually people would figure this out, and add people to their block list, and we wouldn't have to worry about them anymore.

Something needs to be done about those forum scammers too.
Skillz, read the qoute he included. scamming is _not_ allowed. That's the game mechanics. _you_ understand _nothing_ from the game mechanics in eve. Escrow is boring atm - so boring as your carebear-whinig. Stop spamming the forums with your scam. ________________________________________________ Balancing doesn't mean to equal every fitting, it means giving everybody the chance to encounter a fitting.

Edited by: Kretin Arnon on 21/03/2004 11:00:12 You might not be a scammer mr. Marcellus but your Science Graduate prices are a bit too high. If anybody buys at 500k a piece they surely must be mad and you're ripping them off. I sell for 175k and others even lower than that. Too bad our escrows never shows up on the table unless you happen to be in the same region/system.
Edir: I would like to see some sort of categorising of the orders. That would be neat.

Edited by: mahhy on 21/03/2004 11:33:32 If I understand this right, the problem with escrow is:
- you can enter anything, or nothing - you can enter your own description of the item
Couldn't all the scamming be fixed by simply not allowing players to enter their own description? And not allowing nothing to be entered?
Item 1: 0-run Apoc BPC Player Desc: GREAT DEAL! 100 Run Apoc BPC! Automatic Desc: Apocalypse BPC - 0 Runs Left
Item 2: Impairor Player Desc: Best Ship for Amarr! Automatic Desc: Impairor
Get rid of player descriptions. Would help a lot I think.
p.s. I actually saw the Impairor scam in Amarr. Almost spat my drink over my keyboard, least it was funny

That would work if you could only put one item in escrow. Thats not the case. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |
